Which is fair because from what I can see, they're the worst people in America, who believe all the union propaganda that they're better human beings and care more for my kids than I do. They really deserve to be miserable the way they're subverting our country.

Compare Louisiana to Utah schools. Spending and outcome.

I got my degree in education. I quit teaching because I fricking couldn't stand teachers.
The kids were great, the other teachers really are very average of intelligence and think they are changing the world. They aren't. They're glorified day care workers.

Widen the perspective a bit…
A great teacher can yield so many positive outcomes for individuals, families and communities. Seems to have been reduced to a job in this thread, but outside of parenting, there are few roles in life with greater leverage on society.
Takes a whole system….starting with parents, education system, schools, leadership, etc.
If I were king, the teaching system in society is revered, encourages teaching, innovation, modifies one-sized fits all mass model to be fit for individual needs (students and teachers alike), non teachers with education skills are encouraged to teach part of year (tech prof to firemen and all between…).

Look at individual districts. At individual schools. Utah has the highest rate of private school enrollment of any state. That is some serious spending.

Your quality of school correlates to the quality of student, which is primarily decided by parental action and DNA.

Nah, that kind of thinking got us where we are.

Utah spends half of what Louisiana does on education per student.
Good students come from good parents, not rich parents.

quote:False. Highly performing students are significantly more likely to come from educated, affluent parents. It's not even a question.
Good students come from good parents, not rich parents.

False
Explain Utah. Compare to California or Louisiana school results and spending.
Rich kids usually have better parents. What they spend on school is irrelevant.
Thanks.

Just don't chant Sohcahtoa, and you can make $55k to work 9 months, collect pension and have good insurance.

I just did. You're talking about a tiny state population with only one urban center that has the highest percentage of private school education in the country.

Utah spends half of what Louisiana spends with far better results.

Inputs —> Process —> Outputs
Ignore perhaps but cannot escape a system, particularly one that is open such as education. It’s not “thinking”. It’s perspective.
Best outcomes follow a system whose parts work well, stand alone and together.

Systems always have tradeoffs and gaps.
Kids fall through the cracks in our educational system because we are trying to do far too much.
Education needs to be simplified and made less expensive. Mass schooling is archaic and harmful.
