Armenia’s ongoing construction of a massive Jesus Christ statue on Mount Hatis near Yerevan, intended to be the world’s tallest at 33 meters tall atop a pedestal for a total height of around 77-101 meters, surpassing Brazil’s Christ the Redeemer.
• Funded privately by businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, the project celebrates Armenia as the first nation to adopt Christianity as state religion in 301 AD, with the statue made of lightweight materials and positioned for panoramic views of key Armenian landmarks like Mount Ararat.

Their idols are silver and gold,
the work of human hands.
They have mouths, but do not speak;
eyes, but do not see.
They have ears, but do not hear;
noses, but do not smell.
They have hands, but do not feel;
feet, but do not walk;
and they do not make a sound in their throat.
Those who make them become like them;
so do all who trust in them
the work of human hands.
They have mouths, but do not speak;
eyes, but do not see.
They have ears, but do not hear;
noses, but do not smell.
They have hands, but do not feel;
feet, but do not walk;
and they do not make a sound in their throat.
Those who make them become like them;
so do all who trust in them

really? that looks tiny compared to rio de janeiro
i'm going to need a yardstick here because that doesn't look even CLOSE to the biggest Jesus.

I wonder if Jesus would have preferred that they spend the money used on that to feed poor people or some shite like that

The Messiah would be pumped to see such a gesture
quote:
And while he was at cBethany in the house of Simon the leper,1 as he was reclining at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head. 4 There were some who said to themselves indignantly, “Why was the ointment wasted like that? 5 For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii2 and dgiven to the poor.” And they escolded her. 6 But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 7 For fyou always have the poor with you, and whenever gyou want, you can do good for them. But hyou will not always have me. 8 iShe has done what she could; she has anointed my body beforehand jfor burial. 9 And truly, I say to you, wherever kthe gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told lin memory of her.”

getting a foot rub from a woman is a little different than a big arse statue being built. I'd be pumped about the foot rub, too.

We know the answer to this already.
Mary Magdalene: Jesus, I got you a gift!
Other Apostles: How dare you not take it and sell it for the poor!
Jesus: Pipe down. She wanted to do something nice for me. I appreciate the gesture. What’s it to you mooks?
See John 12
Oh, and guess who it was that bitched about her gift?
quote:
4Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, 5Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
The Armenians want to show their devotion in a physically tangible way? Good for them. What’s it to You?

Still not forgiving them for their role in subjecting us to the Kardashians
