Once more, we play our dangerous game, a game of chess against our old adversary - The American Navy. For forty years, your fathers before you and your older brothers played this game and played it well. But today the game is different. We have the advantage.

My fiance is originally from Kazakhstan. It's been brewing for a while but the govenrnment shut off a lot of the wifi and phone signals people were using to organize things. She just got through to her grandparents earier today.

Yeah, in Kazakhstan the internet is currently running at ~5% of its usual capacity and has been that way since yesterday. Also, Russia has sent equipment designed to locate and suppress cell phone signals/service. Russia is still calling it a joint peace keeping mission with other CSTO countries. Russia is leading the way, of course.

It is actually a little surprising in this instance with their CSTO allies. They haven't shown much willingness to get involved directly with issues on this level in recent times. They've let some similar uprisings slide over the past several years. It took public pleading for Russia, and other allies, to commit to send peace keeping forces this time.
ETA: It is also somewhat significant that they are willing to weaken their position in regards to Ukraine. Some of the forces they would normally send to Kazakhstan are tied up there.

China is probably in the background considering that region of the world is important for their big trade network. Russia and other former soviet states want to keep china the frick out of the region
This is actually a pretty big deal for Russia. They are willingly weakening their position in the ukraine to get this under control

China cant do shite.
The military is a giant facade, and their economy is on the verge of collapse.
The Party has assumed controll of all the real estate conglomerates in hopes of preventing them defaulting, or at least to control the default narrative.
China cant do anything in Kazak

For anyone interested, this guy gives a bunch of info on Russia/Kazakhstan. This tweet is the start of a really long, multi-day thread about Russia's interests, forces, and equipment:
@RALee85
Found this account late last night scrolling through Kazakhstan tweets. Looks very well informed and sourced as far as his videos and pics in that thread.
