Via a collective security treaty that exists between these countries. It isn’t like Russia is sending in troops just because.

Is it grandmothers waving kazak flags and guys with weird headdresses?

Because that would be unimaginably horrible.

Bingo!
Putin is 69, in the early stages of Parkinson’s, and can cement his legacy by making Mother Russia whole again between Kazakhstan and the Ukraine. If you were him would you let Joe Biden and his puppeteers, NATO, China, or the West get in your way? We’re talking Peter the Great connotations here.

The importance here is that it is now a strategic battle now for control between China and Russia which is why Russia/Belarus and other former USSR countries are sending in troops by the minute.

The US has very little influence here.

It is also a big distraction for Russia in regards to Ukraine. Some have even hypothesized that this could be a CIA op to complicate Putin's Ukraine invasion planning.

I don't know about that, but we certainly aren't hating it at the moment. I'm not sure how Ukraine views it. They could be in favor just to possibly take some of the pressure off of them.

Some good fricking news for once.

Maybe we could expand this lack of influence to the other parts of the world.

It would be devastating to Russia if the country fell into Chinese control.

It’s Nazi Germany and the Soviets all over again. Russia and China are “allies” but they don’t trust each other, and want to be the dominant power.

This is possible but China needs control over this country for their Silk Road project. It is a critical section for China to control and it would drastically speed up the project if it didn't have to go through Russia. The US does not want the Silk Road project to go anywhere so it could be a CIA operation in the background or at least we are helping push the instability to create more distrust between China/Russia.

Also wanted to point out that Kazkhstan is also a major supplier of oil for China & Russia so any instability with their oil imports has wider implications for both countries. Interestingly enough oil workers went on strike today in Kazakhstan. Oil workers walking off the job

I didn't realize that 40% of the world's uranium was produced in Kazakhstan.

Wall Street Journal

Chevron has a 50% ownership in the countries oil fields.

For anyone interested, this guy gives a bunch of info on Russia/Kazakhstan. This tweet is the start of a really long, multi-day thread about Russia's interests, forces, and equipment:

Izvestia reports the Russian MoD is working out the TO&E and training for new Russian Ground Forces units that will be equipped with T-15 Armata and B-19 (with Epokha turrets) IFVs based on recent exercises including Zapad 2021.
