The fighting has intensified so much that Russian troops have arrived to reunify" the country.

Downtown Almaty protest taking place right now.
For our geographically challenged friends here is a map showing the size of oil rich Kazakhstan imposed on top of Europe.
It is possible the reunification of the Soviet Union has officially started.

I forget if he was the president or the PM but people were mad because the country's dictator of 30 years resigned in 2019 only to give himself a new position where he essentially ran everything behind the scenes anyway. He's the guy who named the capital after himself as he left office.

Protests took place a few days ago over high food/gasoline and the protest grew very violent. Muslim Brotherhood types are behind the protests and want to get rid of the President who is tied to Russia. Russia sees the situation as another Egypt and are sending troops to take out everyone (ala Syria) who is not friendly.
The importance here is that it is now a strategic battle now for control between China and Russia which is why Russia/Belarus and other former USSR countries are sending in troops by the minute because they can't let China take control over the country and region. It would be devastating to Russia if the country fell into Chinese control.
The US has very little influence here.

@OsintTechnical is a good Twitter follow for stuff like this. He does a good job breaking things down, and some other good sources follow him. He also retweets some good stuff.
