Anyone here went to Chamberlain-Hunt Academy or other boarding schools in the South?

I heard from a guy I know that Nic Pizzolatto who created True Detective is making a TV series based off Chamberlain Hunt in Port Gibson, Mississippi.
For the people that don't know Chamberlain Hunt was a Christian Military Boarding School that did corporal punishment (beat with the paddle) before it closed down.
Growing up everyone I knew who acted up, their parents would either threaten to send them off to Chamberlain Hunt or St. Stanislaus
I'm sure there's some alumni on here. Anyone got stories. I imagine it must've been pretty wild.

I suspect that part was common ground to almost everyone who went to school in the rural south.
FTR, don't know anyone who attended that school.

My co-worker in the two thousand aughts, now deceased :( went to Lyman Ward in the 1960s. His father had died, I believe, and his mom sent him there; she would drive from New Orleans to Lyman Ward every Friday night for football.

There were two High Schools in the NOLA area in the 1970s & 1980s that boarded male students: St Stanislaus in Bay St Louis & St Paul’s in Covington, LA.
The observation that went around then amongst High School boys in NOLA or BR back then was “If you’re smart and you get kicked out of your local High School, you go to St Paul’s. If you’re dumb and get kicked out, you go to Stanislaus.”

We played Lyman Ward in football for their homecoming one year and we joked that they had to take their sisters to the dance. They had an artillery gun they would shoot every time they scored and it would scare the shite out of you. The game ended with a few minutes left because there was a huge fight on the field; I watched my coach throw hands with their chaplain. They lost and had to go dance with their sisters and we went back home with our ears still ringing from that gun. What a game.

Where did you go to school? We played Lyman Ward a few times, but I think that they were exhibition games.

I got hit with a paddle once and slapped in the head once at Catholic High.
The Vice Principals and Brother Gordian didn’t play.
The lay people couldn’t touch you but the Brothers and nuns sure could.

I recieved a paddling as late as 1992-93 at a private high school. I took a paddling in my public middle school in BR back in '90, as well.
I knew a couple of guys who went to St Stanislaus. They kind of fit the bill.

A kid from my college went to Chamberlain Hunt. I don’t know what happened, but he went from being a standard geeky college kid to homeless in various cities across the country and died on the streets a few years ago. He was actually the valedictorian at CH according to his obituary. ..: draw your own conclusions.
