re: Anyone else love the Saints but despise New Orleans?

Growing up in BR, I enjoyed New Orleans, until I moved there, in my early 20s.
Then I loved it, except certain aspects absolutely infuriated me, as you can imagine. I think those things infuriated me even more because I loved the city so much.
When I left to pursue career stuff, I would literally cry every time I left after a visit.
I've loved the Saints since I was old enough to know what football was. I had Saints uniforms, helmets, lamps, posters, sketches of players, Archie Who? stuff.
So, the loves are inexorably (I mean inextricably) intertwined for me.
But I would have a hard time living in New Orleans right now. Maybe when I retire and write the great American novel and can afford to escape to MT and beach at will.

New Orleans is great.

new orleans has a bigger crime against tourists problem than other cities.
shootings on bourbon, the guys from boston, commanders palace robberies, etc.
these things don't happen in cities like chicago, new york, LA

I love the Saints but I'll never go back to that city other than for a game.

Restaurant and bar scene are the BEST in the USA
It's amazing how many people on this board actually think this is true. Hell, Las Vegas is far better than New Orleans for restaurants alone.

Liking pro football is trashy

No. No it’s not. By a mile.
And I disagree with New Orleans having the best bar and restaurant scene in the country.
That would go to New York and it’s not even close.

The ones who have never been outside of the state that calls counties parishes are the ones overly impressed with NO's dining. NYC is the obvious answer. Vegas is by far better. Hell, San Francisco and Chicago are on the same level as NO.

I am a big time bandwagon Saints fan. When they are good I’ll watch and cheer. When they suck I don’t bother keeping up with the NFL.

Love some parts of New Orleans, other parts should just be napalmed. Overall the city is fun to visit to watch the Saints, sometimes Bama, and sometimes my high school when they make it to the Dome. Would never live there even though wife is from
Metry.
Metry.
