Despise is a strange way to look at it.
I would say that I pity New Orleans. It has all of the ingredients to be a world class city in terms of experience, culture, history, entertainment. But the government has let it turn into a toilet bowl. I feel sorry for the people that do live there and care, because they deserve better.

This is overblown IMHO. The culture (to me) is nothing more than smelly streets, hobos banging on buckets for money and street painters and palm readers. It's bizarre.
Maybe I worded the OP wrong. I don't "despise" the city and I know it's obviously not the shittiest. I just don't care for the city at all. Never have enjoyed it. Sorry for wording like an a-hole in the OP.

Actually as far as a city with things to do it’s in the top in the country. Restaurant and bar scene are the BEST in the USA. If u haven’t been there in a year you’d be amazed at the amount of downtown apts been constructed. Lots of young people. I don’t live in the city but I’m 3 miles from the French quarter and I wouldn’t move to anywhere. As far as political corruption, the entire country has caught up. It’s a shame but u get who you voted for and the fed govt is the biggest anchor on us going forward.

So, by this statement you’re essentially saying you’ve only been to Bourbon Street/FQ tourist trap where middle America goes to act crazy.

You are a dumb simpleton and know nothing about culture. LOL
You probably think the only thing to do in Nola is to stumble up and down Bourbon with a hand grenade drink and taking in a fine meal at Bubba Gumps or Landrys

The biggest problem from those who don’t live here is they just go to bourbon street and think that’s all there is because they’re uninformed / not educated / countrified.

I used to refer to New Orleans as “The Big Cheesy.” Everything is a giant cliche.

Just because I don't want to live there with a family doesn't mean I can't appreciate how unique and interesting the city is. I've lived in Nola and NYC. I love both but wouldn't want to live in either now at 42 with 2 kids.

I love the saints but damn...i hate nola and most of the people from nola get on my last nerve after about 20 minutes. They are some of the only folks who live in a shite hole and don't realize it. I'm from a shite hole and at least i know it.

people whose first inclination is to bring up bourbon street like its the entire city are the ones who go to Saltgrass steakhouse for special occasions

Yeah, hate the only real city that saves the fricking state from being Venezuela.

I’ll never understand the “hate/despise NOLA” crowd. I don’t hate any other city. It’s a silly thing to even say really. All you do is sound petty and childish when you say dumb shite like this.

Very much enjoy the city also very much aware of it’s many flaws

MY kid goes to Lsu and I’m more afraid of crime around there than in Nola.
