not a lot of food choices and these places don’t stay open late like restaurants in Louisiana. not even the typical fast food chains.

I fricking hate Midland, but this isn't true. There are plenty of joints that stay open late. Lots of chain restaurants. Minor league baseball games are fun. You will have the longest drives of your life on the golf courses. But also the shortest

Lol

OP as someone who has spent too much time in both I would go to Midland 10/10 over ND assuming you’re talking about the Bakken. Midland sucks but it is closer to civilization. 5 hours to Fort Worth 5-6 hours to Austin and there’s regular flights to Houston Denver and DFW to connect you wherever

Also just more in terms of restaurants and to do in Midland

Yeah this is true about ND in some places but completely false with Midland in my experience.

Anyone who would pick Williston over Midland has clearly never been to both

Yeah Williston is the bottom as far as oilfield towns go. Only reasoning I could see is if the start date is May 1st and you’re working outside. And you know you’re only going to be there for 6months.

Williston/Minot/Dickinson were still cold as frick in October though in my experience and I saw snow in May there

My FIL has a facility out there. It was cold a couple weeks ago, so one of his employees went out and started his truck and heater and then went back into the hotel room. He comes out 5 minutes later and his truck was stolen.

He’s obviously an idiot, but there are also trashy criminals out there, too.

Anyone who owns a truck like that has real balls so small they will make a woman cry in disappointment.

Midland/Odessa is not as bad as everyone is saying. I actually like the area and have gotten use to it when i go there. It is dry no doubt not alot of rain there and at times its windy and hot in the summer.

Lots of places to eat especially Mexican food. They have Olive Garden, Logans Steakhouse, Twin Peaks, Hooters, Chilis, Saltgrass, etc, etc pretty much what every other city has as far as food goes.

Hotel rooms are sky high on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays $400 nite. Friday, saturday, and sundays its around $125. Mondays is about $200. And every room is booked during the middle of the week. You better off getting an apartment for 6 months.

Doubel A baseball team in Midland is fun to go watch other than that not much to do but if you working 6 days a week who cares. Its stricktly an oilfield town with 400 rigs in the Permian and New Mexico areas.

Went there one time back in 03 for the company I worked for and ended up at the strip club. I remember the stripper sitting next to me all night rubbing her fingers in her vag and asking me to smell it.

hope this helps

I've never been there (I've been to west Texas, but not to Midland or Odessa) but I have had a lifelong fascination with it. I love how remote and flat and desolate it is.

I might not end up liking it if I ever live there, but for now I do.

Midland is great if you know the right people.

It's better, of course, if you are the right people.
