Make sure lodging is covered by the company. Prices for hotels/apartments are crazy out there right now.

Right of Way stuff or actual physical construction?

Midland is nowhere you would chose to be unless the money is really really good....that being said, it's significantly better than Odessa. Midland actually has some decent areas in it off of Wadley, but there is no night life or stuf to do , really

I love it there.

But then again, I own an F-250 sitting on 44’s, with an 8” exhaust tip and a set of truck nuts so big it’ll make your momma cry.

Thats my biggest concern, they have not told me what per-diem is yet.It will have to be $350 a day if motels are that high.

I lived out there for two years after college. I kinda liked it. Had a small town vibe.

It’s safe, expensive as frick, and the most boring town in the country. It’s aptly named because it’s in the middle of nowhere. Like 5 bars (all trash) and nothing to do but Minor League baseball games. And shitty apartments cost more than many in Uptown Dallas, which has a lot of crap going on.

Hotels, flights, & housing have skyrocketed lately. I travel there monthly for work & it's getting more expensive every trip.

Plenty of good jobs available, but I think you'd have to enjoy dirt, dust storms, & being in the middle of nowhere to be happy living there.

i stayed at the WoodSpring suites.
wasn’t bad. nothing special though.

but hotels are a bit pricey out that way.
all of West Texas is absolutely booming right now.
and probably 90% of the oilfield workforce doesn’t live there, and are in hotels or RV lots.
Those places can almost name their prices right now and still fill up on a nightly basis.

crime

not sure on that one.

it’s basically a straight oilfield town.
not a lot of food choices and these places don’t stay open late like restaurants in Louisiana. not even the typical fast food chains.

and trust me when i say 112° is fricking hot.
dry heat or not, that’s hot.
big difference is that if you find shade, the temp is considerably less hot than in the sun.

saw a ton of roadrunners.
but not a single one was being chased by a coyote.
my entire childhood was a lie.

If so what is it like out there, terrain, motels, crime, etc.Got a job offer and don't know much about west Tx.

Midland is bigger than you'd think it would be. I remember being surprised by that it had a few skyscrapers downtown.

Southwest has routes to and from the airport, which is either new or recently renovated.

It has all the major hotels you'd expect to see in a city of 150k.

It's a relatively safe city I'd say but I was never there for longer than 2 weeks at a time.

Terrain is flat. Last time I was there, it rain about half inch and it damn near flooded the city.

Speed limit is 85 in some parts. Flat land as far as the eye can see. Occasional oil drilling. You are going to love it!

That's a pretty hefty amount. Most I've ever seen is $100 a day.

For 6 months? Which 6 months? If you can avoid winter in ND, definitely go to ND. Head down to SD for a weekend at Sturgis in August if it's within your 6 month window up that way.
