Pecos is a terrible place. Luckily I only have to pass through and not spend anytime there. I work out of Fort Stockton.

I'm from there . My condolences if you move there .the money is good if you're going into the oil field but that place is miserable .

Don't listen to these people. Most of them live in Louisiana or Houston. And have never left. Do you really want to trust their judgement on life decisions?

I've lived in all three . Midland is better than Odessa but it's pretty terrible.

Yea. Lived in Texas City and drove daily to Galveston to work on a dredge dredging out the Houston ship channel during summer break when I was a Junior in High School. Texas sucks.

The 2 are both in Texas. That's about as related as they can get. Midland and the entire Permian is what I envision hell to look like.

Pecos, TX.

My son didn't like Midland until he moved to Pecos.

well yeah

although I didn't think anyone actually lived in Pecos

Carlsbad is about the only town in that area with any redeeming qualities

the worst of the area has to be Artesia

I'm over the Permian basin but based in Houston. I've yet to participate in the Midland experience but I need to make a trip there soon. Not looking forward to it.

Midland is better than ND... Talk about in the middle of nowhere -- North Dakota is brutal. I've been all over the world with the oilfield and Williston has very few redeeming qualities.

Many years ago, my dad told me "nothing good has ever came out of Midland, Texas. Since then he spoke to me from the grave and said, "except for one OTer's wife". Thats all I know about it. Odd for my dad to say anything negative about a random place like that, but for some reason I remember it.

Built numerous pipelines out there. Bigger jobs pretty much require camps since there really isn’t lodging for big spreads. Midland is ground zero for the Permian and it has all the luxuries of any big city but it’s a desolate area once you leave town with no redeeming features other than thousands of pump jacks and an ugly landscape. However, the area is booming again big time.
