Should only order a beer or “x” on the rocks or with water

I was at Bulldog few weeks back. They were out of their one Hefeweizen. They sure had 7 or 8 IPAs on tap though.
Summer in Louisiana. Hefeweizens are a refreshing beer. How can places have 70 plus taps and zero options?
Hipsters and their damn flavored IPAs.

7/80 is not a crazy number
Not sure what your point is
I'm sure they had plenty of blondes, wheats, and pilsners on tap

Craft beer is a fad. Like all fads, it is ending.
If anything, "Craft Beers" are now well established and are killing the big brands.

No wheats. Not any that weren't bizarre(grapefruit etc) flavored.
I understand that bars gotta serve the market but it's crazy that the market has gone so far away from traditional beers.
Brewers make the IPAs etc because they are easier to brew. I like a true IPA sometimes but it's just gotten out of hand.
People who don't like sour or super bitter beers are getting forced out.
There's nothing wrong with a malty beer. Just not many options at near all places.

I don't think this is necessarily true. Beer will probably always be a bigger seller than spirits and wine. I was looking through a list of top alcohol companies and 6/10 of the worlds largest alcohol companies are beer.
From the google machine.
1. Anheuser-Busch InBev: US$45.6 billion Beer
2. Heineken Holding: $23 billion Beer
3. Kirin Holdings: $19.1 billion Beer
4. Asahi Group Holdings: $15.7 billion Beer
5. Diageo: $15.2 billion Spirits
6. Pernod Ricard: $9.7 billion Spirits
7. Carlsberg: $9.3 billion Beer
8. Suntory Holdings (Beam): $9.1 billion Spirits
9. Constellation Brands: $7.3 billion Beer (mixed but mostly beer)
10. Thai Beverage: $5.3 billion Mixed
SAB-Miller and Molson-Coors is probably somewhere among this list too.
ETA: And the article is behind a paywall. Garbage.

Half the crap that's being sold as "craft beer" is mixed with so much shite that you can't even call it beer anymore. And what's the sudden fascination with IPAs. shite is NASTY, like swamp arse in a bottle.

My thought is why waste time and stomach space with a beer when I can get liquor and get straight to the point.

I think the only thing this shows is that there are more options now than ever before. In the early 90s, for the first time ever, there was a period when alcohol sales dropped.. That's when companies started to diversify their products. More wine coolers, flavored beers, etc were on the shelves and that expanded the customer base.
That probably has an impact on people who are in their early twenties today. They may have grown up with their parents drinking other drinks than beer..
