Just added my 16yo daughter to USAA auto. Went up $600/mo. WTF??

Anyone have suggestions on another carrier?

Tell her to learn to walk or get a boyfriend with a car.

Get her a beater, put liability on it, and make her the primary driver. She will then become an occasional driver of your other vehicles. Her policy should be $600 every six months or less.

Do you or your other drivers have any tickets or accidents? Adding a teen driver when one of the other drivers has a blemish is painful.

You can shop, but usually you get a better deal adding a teen driver to an existing policy versus buying a new policy with an already licensed teen driver.

Raise your deductibles or drop collision on older vehicles if you can.

USAA has been raising rates on us, too.
Two senior citizens, no accidents in the past decade. A couple hundred more every six months, even though the cars are older and only one has what might be a replacement value insurance.

After decades of being with USAA, DH is starting to mutter about shopping around.

I wonder how much is the presence of many totally uninsured motorists who couldn't spell drivers license in English affecting our costs.

My state farm agent told me the same thing. We only had two cars, I was primary on one, wife the other, said I didn't have to add her.

Just combined our home owners & auto woth the same company & saved bundling them together. About $1400 savings combined (have teen daughter on policy too).

USAA just dropped our car insurance rate by $40 / month unprompted when the policy renewed last month. We are both right around 50, empty nesters but nothing in our life has changed in the last 3 years to cause a change.

Teenagers are expensive to insure, we had a similar price shock when adding ours.

It’s going to hurt your bank account until she’s on her own or married.

Look on the bright side. Since Gordon and the insurance companies are getting richer we can lure more talent with NIL $

I had good luck with Progressive when I added my son last year. Switched from Geico who tried to raise my rates almost 400 dollars.

Wow….so that sounds like it was worthwhile! Both my homeowners and auto insurance companies have been after me to do this,

Having USAA is the issue. They are not doing servicemembers any favors. Geico will take better care of vets.

Need to go to a no pay/no play system. It would cut down on at least some of it.

I have homeowners with USAA and auto with progressive.

USAA is always higher than progressive when they try to quote me auto.
