I have USAA and I bought a used car and just wanted liability and they wanted to charge ME an extra 200 a month. I swapped that car and my 16 year old to geico and only paid 200 for both cars and a 16 year old driver

If you let her sleep with Gronk it’s likely a tax write off and reduction on your monthly payment

Just a word of advice we did the same thing under the advice of our agent for about 6 months then were notified by our by her that State Farm was starting to deny claims for drivers in situations like this. Apparently they are cracking down on this tactic.

I think ours went up about $225-250/Mo with a teenager. She's 18 now. It hasn't gotten any cheaper yet. We have State Farm

Yes, read your policy. Household is covered on the policy.

On an auto insurance policy, a "household" refers to all individuals who physically reside at your permanent address and are related to you by blood, marriage, or adoption.

This is until they get in an accident which then they will be named on the policy and you will likely pay $600 additional per month

I switch insurance every six months. It's the only way to keep the costs down

Sure, but to do that, you have to get laws passed. The lawyers lobby is too big to get the law passed.

I thought you had to be on military to get the cheap insurance with USAA?

I was with USAA, for me and my wife. Paying around $320 a month for two drivers and two automobiles. When I called to add my 16-year-old son and a used Tacoma I was buying for him, I had a $1000 a month increase.

I called GEICO, now for all three drivers and all three cars, I increased my coverage from 100/300 to 250/500,, and dropped my deductible from $1000 to $500, I’m now paying $370 a month for all three drivers and all three automobiles, including one of the three being a new truck for me.

Couldn’t believe the difference in price, and I’ve passed this on to multiple friends whose kids are starting to drive and they had the same success as me when they switched

GEICO will raise your price after 6 months. You simply got a discount for your first term.

Not anymore. If you have a household driver that isn't listed, regularly drives a vehicle and gets into an accident, the claim will be denied.

If they raise it in six months, I’ll re-shop if I have to. What’s wrong with not spending an extra thousand dollars a month for the next six months??? I’m betting it doesn’t jump $1000 in six months per month
