If Derozen goes to the Lakers then it just leaves BI, Bridges, Lavine (neg val), and Allen/ Garland if available.

Yeah count me in as hoping we can get Theis as a backup. Then get a starting center and we're in a good position with whatever happens with BI if we still have him at that time.

I just think a semi-cost controlled Allen is the type of addition we need to the team. I would assume he would be attainable with picks/players we either have or can get with BI and/or CJ trades. I hated losing Naji, but he would have been an expensive bench player.

It does, but at the same time I feel like if that trade was available (Allen and either Strus or Levert for BI), then it would've been made already.

Nah I don't like that. It would be free baskets for opposing teams most of the game if Zion has to play the 5 for extended minutes. That's not a knock on him, he just isn't tall enough or even know how to properly guard a capable big. We don't need him playing center for more than 5-10 minutes a game and I don't even want that.

They’ve got to be right up against the first apron with that kind of extension. A deal that nets us BI would likely require us to either take all of their unwanted salary or get a third team involved to help with salary and/or get the cavs a serviceable big to back up Mobley

Spending our remaining trade assets on a shooting guard when our starting center has played like 4 years of basketball would probably have been a bit shortsighted on Griff’s part too lol

Why is that? b/c we can't stop anyone on the perimeter?
You can't just let guys run at the rim. It doesn't matter if Gobert is under the rim, if it's free runs at the rim it will always favor the offense.
Good defense starts with playing good perimeter defense.
Do you recall a time where the small ball Warriors looked as bad as the DPOY did this year late in a game getting owned on the perimeter to lose the series?

tall enough has nothing to do with it. He's strong enough and quick enough to prevent anyone in the league from backing him down and getting good position.
If you remember the first time we played AD bitch after he was traded, he scored 46 points against us.
30 of those points came against Jahlil Okafor and Kenrich Williams on 42 possessions, as we tried to use Kenny Hustle to guard him as he went 8-13 against him. When Okafor guarde him AD went 4-8 and got to the line 5 times.
Jrue gaurded him for 23 possessions. Much smaller 6'4" Jrue. AD went 2-8 against Jrue that night, and had 4 points.
Jrue used his lower body strength and quickness to stay in front of AD and make him shoot jumpers instead of getting to the rim.
What i will agree with you is that Zion doesn't know how to play defense like that just yet. He gambles way too much. But I do think he can get good at it, and I think that's our path to a championship.

That's pretty much what i'm asking for as well. maybe 10 minutes worth of it, more if the opposing teams center isn't any good and we force them to go small against us.
That's what needs to happen more than anything, we force teams to go small b/c they can't stop us offensively. There's only a handful of centers that should be able to stay on the court with us with the right small ball lineup we can throw at them, Jokic, Embiid, Chet, Wemby, AD. Other guys like Gafford aren't good enough offensively to worry about defending, and as i said, we would still need a big body 5 for games like that.
Day'Ron Sharpe should be a target of ours right now, especially since Claxton is staying in Brooklyn.
