i hope some talent that can't make a roster files suit against the nba somehow.
Not sure they'd have a great case if the argument is a dude got drafted with one of the final picks in the draft.

Ok, if Griff doesn’t swing a trade soon are we going small ball all year or going trawling on the international market?
Getting a Summer League guy is possible for a 2nd or 3rd center but highly unlikely for a starter.

We have to have something setup for the 5. It’s one thing for us not to throw a bunch of money around, but it’s another for the available guys not to look at our depth chart and want in. I think Theis and Saric are still better backup options than someone like Wiseman, but if they start disappearing too, I definitely start to wonder.

I think this is a good thing to be honest. At this point, with the holes on the front court and guys are getting snatched up in free agency, you have to imagine that they know who they are getting in a trade and they are working to get it done.

It could be working against us with all of the FA C's signing elsewhere.

I'd imagine Griff is working his way through trades to get one of his top targets (Allen/Kessler/etc.) with other options in his back pocket that probably aren't going anywhere anytime soon (Robert Williams types)

I know we probably have something lined up and it will make us worrying about this hole on our roster look silly in retrospect but these deals blow up all the time. We apparently don't have a free agency Plan B for our center spot and its concerning.

I would bet that Griff could trade something small (maybe a protected pick or second round picks or something from a BI trade) for WCJ right now if he wanted to, but then he still has to make a BI trade, which he could also make with the Kings right now if he wanted, but he probably doesn't want the salaries of both Barnes and Huerter. We could use Barnes as our backup PF. Where does Huerter go? Do the Magic take him without having to be compensated? Obviously there would be picks to be sorted out, too.
This is probably not his number one trade option, so he's trying to work out other trades (maybe something for JA).
He's probably also trying to do all of this and stay below the tax

This is simply not true.
The only 2 upgrades from Val in free agency were Hartenstein and Claxton. Neither of which we had cap space to sign.
The Drummond's are chasing championships and aren't coming here.
Our only option was always a trade and our #3 was always going to be the leftover vet min, unless we aquire (2) bigs in a trade.
I'd imagine:
Plan A: Jarrett Allen
Plan B: Kessler + WCJ
Plan C: WCJ + ?
Plan D: Ayton
Not including what other centers are available behind the scenes. C and D are definitely worst case scenario and would mean extra draft picks. No one should be worried.

Plan E may be Timelord, who has injury issues and isn’t great on offense.

I like myself some Karlo. I wonder if we see him in summer league?

Of course theis and saric are better than Wiseman.
Hopefully they get theis locked up soon. That will make me feel a little better.
