If there's a real upgrade that requires him to be added, ofcourse you do it. But if it's not a big upgrade or we can get it done by adding a 1st instead, then I'd rather not trade him.

I'm starting to realize that the big issue for many folks is that they put way too much faith in the unknown. They assume Trey is going to take a huge leap as a starter. They assume Hawkins is going to make CJ replaceable. I'm not quite as convinced on either guy.

Trey proves that he can play. I agree with you on the CJ and Hawkins situation though. Thats too soon to tell. If we are trading, I want it to be for proven players not just to trade him away for nothing.

Trey doesn't need to take a huge leap because we don't need him to replace BI.
Offensively:
Murray is your BI replacement
A combination of Trey starting and Hawkins off the bench is your CJ replacement. It's not a full replacement but for the off ball role role we need CJ to play. That being said, I'm not looking to trade CJ.
Defensively:
Murray + Trey vs CJ + BI is an upgrade in the starting lineup. Trey for BI is a wash, Murray for CJ is a big upgrade.
Hawkins role on this roster probably caps out at 6th man. You don't keep him out of trades.

Well that puts the Hawkins being traded to rest.
Never thought they would trade the cost controlled sharp shooter who is literally the poster for their Summer League

To be fair, griff did burn three lotto picks on young, upside guys who had 1 legit NBA ready skill between them. It’s hard to see the forrest for the trees when the PBO doesn’t even have a clear vision.

Is Reeves not a viable replacement for Hawkins?

He can play, but he hasn't proven to be a starter in my opinion. He was worse than BI or CJ in the playoffs while the best defenders were on them. He still has a very shaky handle and has shown very little in the creation department.

I can see your concern. He does need to move more and not stay stationary. I think having Dejounte playing point will help him tremendously. We did see flashes of his rebounding and passing in the playoffs though.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Bring him in Griff

What is the market for Reed tho? His salary this year was going to be 8mil. We don't have the cap space at the moment so if another team jumps on it then that's that.

Doubt anyone will pick him up for that

Y’all better prepare to extend BI, or Griff to get a really shitty return.

We still have access to our full 12.4 million dollar TPE so we can offer him pretty much anything we need to to get him.

True…I’m curious about what we will do to make the Murray trade legal though. Besides the Stein report that “Ingram’s days in Nola appear to be coming to an end”, there hasn’t been too much traction with a trade. Unless we are dumping him to a team like Spurs or hornets for picks/young players and a hefty TPE.
