re: What do you prefer in the draft?

Been farting around, I’ll drop this here
David Bailey gives you the stud edge to pair next to Young
Gennings Dunker is projected to be a guard in the league. Iowa OL bloodline, road grader in the run game. I’ve seen a few mocks where he sneaks in to the backend of the 1st
Blake Miller was projected by some to land in the top 10 at this time last year. Lacks some consistency but only allowed 2 sacks last year to the tune of a 83 PFF pass block grade. Some insurance at tackle with a high ceiling
J’Mari Taylor - 5’9” 205 - led ACC in rush yards, TDs, forced missed tackles, and yards after contact.
I don’t know Harold Perkins’ role in the NFL but we will let Staley and co figure it out.
Cole Brevard is fire hydrant interior DL. Here’s there to eat space, nothing more, nothing less
Kevin Coleman is a former 5 star. Good route runner who can provide some YAC
Moten had five INTs each of the last two years at Marshall and USM. Started at A&M. CB with some length

I don’t expect him to verbally, but I’d expect him to relieve them of their duties. That’s how any other profession would operate. The only difference is Loomis has carte Blanche

Until it’s proven otherwise I’ll continue to believe Loomis only selects the people who select the players. That is a year round grinder 24-7 job. Mickey is not doing that crap.
I don’t think anyone thinks Loomis solely makes the personnel calls. Like you said, he’s responsible for the direct reports who vet these players. His main issue is his unwillingness to say he fricked up and to get rid of people (like Dennis Allen). Ireland and Parenton have mile long leashes. The draft classes and contracts put this org back half a decade, and it was going to take the exact type of draft class we had to pull us out of these mess. Namely the QB

Anthony’s Ristorante is a newer, Mississippi upscale Italian place. Same folks as Trapani’s. Right there in old town
Thorny Oyster has good desserts. Probably one of the only places with a pastry chef. There’s a Creole Creamery
The only place I’d travel for is white pillars

re: How do y’all feel about Ja’Lynn Polk for next season? WR

I liked him coming out of college. It’s just a bit curious when the 37th pick in the draft is dumped after a year. We don’t have to pretend it’s not a red flag

Sure sounds like he was on the cut bubble before the injury.
Pop Douglas and Boute were 6th rd picks. Kendrick Bourne was already released before the trade

Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel told radio broadcaster Scott Zolak the franchise felt it was best to give Polk a fresh start. Polk was placed on season-ending injured reserve and thus was not eligible to play for the Patriots this season.
Breer’s insights aligned with Vrabel's comments, and also included noteworthy detail.
"This just got to the point where they were hopeful that he would come back in a better place than he had been in 2024, and they still saw a backup player out there on the practice field even before he got hurt," Breer said.
"I think where they feel like they really missed -- this isn't a bad guy, so it's not a personal character thing. I want to make sure I emphasize that," Breer continued. "But the football character wasn't exactly what they thought it would be."
The University of Washington product bragged about having "the best hands in the league" during his rookie season. He finished the year catching 12 of the 33 passes thrown his way for a mere 87 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games. When Polk stepped to the microphone in training camp this summer, he said he didn't learn anything from his rookie season and instead was putting it in the rearview.
"He didn't dig himself out of that hole," Breer said. "They started to view him as more of a backup and then the question became, 'Do we just cut bait now or do we keep chasing a mistake and maybe create a situation where you're not giving other players some opportunity?' And, of course, that issue is exacerbated by the fact that they missed on another receiver in Javon Baker."

I never discount a young player that is let go of by new coaching staff.
Pretty uncommon after one season of ball. In the last twenty years, only two WRs drafted in rounds 1-2 were dealt after their first season. AJ Jenkins and Dorial Green Beckham.

We will be ok trading down a point, point and a half of WAR at the expense of whatever Nico brings in return coupled with adding more pop to the lineup with Shaw.
Shaw has the pedigree, made a clean switch to 3B from SS. One would presume he can handle 2B. He was also good for 1.5 fWAR post ASB and posted the highest wRC+ (133) amongst 3B post ASB. For reference, Ketel Marte posted 1.5 fWAR and a 125 wRC+ at 2B post ASB, which were top 3 at the position in that timeframe.
I would love to lock in Hoerner and have your INF for the next 5 years. Shaw could be your zobrist type. I just think letting him walk after next season with no real return is a mistake

They should extend Nico if he’s so valuable to the team. The Cubs are setup to win the division but they are not primed to be a serious contender. If you’re not going to reup Nico you should trade him. There are contenders who are thirsty for a guy of his caliber - they don’t have a Shaw, they’re going to hit Nico at the top of their order, some could play him at short. All with intent to extend him like we hoped with Tucker
If Shaw l’s 2nd half is any indication then he’s going to be a fine replacement. 3-4 WAR guy who can still fill in around the INF. Nico could bring a RF, SP, RP - a serious contender isn’t playing Suzuki in RF and you still could use another swing and miss SP. They aren’t going to just deal Nico without getting what the want to address a need
I want to keep Nico but for one year? Move him

Patriots have a poor track record on early WRs. To part ways with a guy after one year is something.

Carr, Winston, and Dalton have led WRs to monster seasons. WRs who are paid like Olave will be paid transcend QB play.
We all love the production and rapport with Shough. We are downplaying the risk though given the recency bias

Olave has an concussion riddled 45 games of not producing like a high contract WR
his 9 games with Shough warrant a nice deal
Now the blood clot stuff
Choose wisely

Houston’s Hawaiin Ribeye Recipe
INGREDIENTS
2 thick cut rib eye steaks
1 cup low sodium soy sauce (do NOT use regular! it will ruin your steak!)
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup brown sugar
6 ounces pineapple juice
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
2 teaspoons fresh ginger, minced
DIRECTIONS
Add soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, pineapple juice and apple cider vinegar to a small pot. Bring to a boil then simmer over low heat for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and pour the marinade into a large shallow dish (to marinate steaks later). Set aside until it’s cooled, or to speed up the process, cover and place it in the fridge until it’s cool.
Add steak into the dish with marinade. Cover and place in fridge for 1 hour. Flip sides and cover for another 1 hour in the fridge. I prefer to marinate over night.
20 minutes before starting the grill, take dish with steaks out (still covered) to cool to room temperature. Heat grill.
Heat grill to high and grill steaks for 5 minutes. Flip and continue to grill for 4 minutes (for medium-rare to medium). Use an internal thermometer (135F for medium-rare and 140F for medium). Transfer steaks to a platter and tent with foil to let rest for 5 minutes. Grill some pineapple slices along with the steaks for garnish.

Miami twitter is saying he was one of the players who had the flu
It will be interesting to see if he takes part in the combine drills and what he measures. Could be a top 10 guy on the tape, but I’d be curious to see how athletic he really is. He has a weird body, it appears he has a long torso but shorter legs and arms

If tweet fails to load, click here. Chambliss got it out quick. Though the LT did a pretty good job on Bain, all things considered
re: Ideal offseason

Bain had 6 pressures last night - most in the game. He was up Chambliss’ arse all night. 12/23 completions were check downs, 102 pass yards if you take away the YAC. 1/11 on throws 15+ downfield
Doesn’t show up on Bain’s stat sheet necessarily but he obviously affected this game
