It's going to kill high school recruiting which is hard enough as is. If you're going to focus on euro guys and professionals, these kids have no chance and as time goes the talent pool is going to dwindle and force cessation. You're already seeing less and less kids playing youth football.

Jason Kidd fired.

Wonder if he’d be assistant here considering his relationship with Mosley
I agree with the concept of NIL in general. Players should be able to sell their autographs, do TV spots on the side, etc.

But the problem is profit sharing, etc.

Also, there should be a cap.

You're forking over multi-million dollar deals to kids who haven't earned it. Some sophomore quarterbacks are getting paid more than second year NFL players.

Also, it's patently absurd to me that an 18 year old kid because they look good, have social media, and can play a sport are making more than top tier lawyers, doctors, teachers. Even further with the portal, there is no more school or state pride. Hard to fully engage at times because many of these kids will be gone in a year because they aren't getting their way and starting right away.

Like I said, we've completely lost the plot.
I'm not saying the NCAA is correct but there is needs to be some sort of true governance over this shite. We've completely lost plot of amateurism, academics, and athletics.
Saying it other threads, this is a big reward payoff sure but it's a gamble that I didn't feel it worth taking...so many talented guys that you can have in the building now instead of this horse and pony show.
1000% believe that this will change how the NCAA handles this shite.

I'm for LSU getting the best guys but, ethically speaking, if you played pro ball (Euroleague, G League, NBA two-way) or got drafted at some point...then you can't play COLLEGE basketball.

I've said in other threads 18-20 year old euro guys that haven't been drafted and are in the lower leagues of Euro basketball I'm good with...same for other parts of the world.

But Pandora probably can't get put back in the box.
Which is precisely why I question this approach. It's a gamble that you're banking on the NCAA working with you and historically they don't. I would have much rather him tackled the portal for guys stateside and built a roster that way and, maybe, sprinkled in a couple of guys from the international side.
Here's hoping Ronnie back to form and can make up the difference

Wish we kept Heim.

Mateo is playing well and should get some starts at 2nd to give Ozzie a break.

I'm assuming the Ritchie thing is just to get an arm up. Haven't had an off day since May 11 and next one isn't until May 25.
I'm all for LSU getting the best talent possible but this whole landscape has gotten stupid.
Proud of my Rams!

It's a cool full circle story.. Brody's dad was my head coach in high school and he was on the last team to win the state title.

Boys earned it!

I think
quote:

I believe that this is the hire before THE HIRE.

Doug Collins set the table in Chicago for Phil Jackson.
Bill Fitch set the table in Houston for Rudy T.
Del Harris set the table in LA for Phil Jackson.
Mark Jackson set the table at Golden State for Steve Kerr.
Thibs set the table in NY for Mike Brown.

and, perhaps....

Darvin Ham set the table in LA for JJ (TBD)

If Mosely does nothing else but install a 'real, functioning, effective' Defense to this team, it will be a successful hire and the team will be vastly improved.

DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!!

I think this is the overarching problem. Each hire was supposed to be that...and nothing has changed. Same issues, same lethargy and apathy in the front office, we have been doing the same thing for decades now. Fans want a change. Rondo or even Hetzel would have at least been an attempt at something different.

Real issue is the front office, we all know that.
It's why I think the international route for the most part is dumb.

I'm sorry, if you're over a certain age and are a professional over there you aren't eligible to play COLLEGE basketball. If you're 21 and have been drafted, same rules apply.

Because of this pathway we've probably lost out on a lot of good guys here state side. Maybe it works out and we're winners. Not trying to be negative, it's just goes to show much this whole this broken now.

Many of us aren't truly mad about the hire, at least in a vacuum. He's not a "bad" coach. He's not a "championship" level coach.

I'll put it this way...I remember when we hired Willie some wanted Mosley instead as he was a top assistant with Dallas at the time.

What he did "consistently" in Orlando is what we wanted Willie to do here which means the last four years, in a nutshell, are a waste in terms of general organizational growth. We all know that.

He gets you from the bottom to the middle but doesn't get you to the top. Maybe, in that sense, it's a good hire. But it's boring. It's uninspiring to a fanbase that is hungry for a consistent winner.
I'm going to continue to beat the Micah Nori drum

Oh he routinely gets out coached in key moments. I'm not arguing that. I'm saying he's consistently had a good defense (stats back that up)...which tends to go to the Willie Green 2.0 conversation

And it's why all of us feel the hire is uninspired

Herb is here to stay

Hawk, Poole and others are done for

Still need shooting in the worst way

Need a good staff - that is key

#5 in defensive rating this year
#1 two years ago

Lost Franz Wagner in that series and that turned the tide...not shilling for the guy but context does matter

Honestly if Wagner doesn't get hurt we are having a very different conversation right now

Again, I'll scream it from the mountaintops, the focus now shifts to the staff and you MUST get Micah Nori. Dude is an offensive stud under the Finch tree (remember that really awesome team we had with Gentry? - that was Finch's offense)

He can coach defense, I'll give him that. He NEEDS to get Micah Nori from Minnesota to coach the offense
For me, it's less to do with Mosley and more to do with process.

Is Mosley a bad coach? Statistically speaking, no, he's not. But he's also a re-tread hire that is uninspired.

I'm not saying Rondo would have set the world on fire, but it would have been different. I would have invigorated the fanbase. It would be a guy that the players would respect. He would be a guy that creates the culture you want. Is he a risk? Absolutely, but any hire is.

Could Mosley be successful here? Sure, he could. But he's boring and, frankly, if you are having to convince him to come, is he really the guy you want anyway? He's got two years left on his deal at $14m? Why would he want to jump from situation to a poorer one?

Rondo was a smokescreen, we all know that. The organization again is failing to read to the room or, worse, not caring about what is right in front of them.
Are there any other HS guys he's looking at or not really?
Wouldn't mind get 1-2 more guys beyond for depth...guessing that could be reserved for a Hampton or other HS guys?
