I would imagine whomever bought the Saints would buy the Pelicans no?
I'm holding out hope that Todd Graves is buying the team once that expansion check clears
I used to but if I'm not in the stands, I kind of like watching by myself or with my kids.
The original model wasn't broken regarding eligibility...it was broken regarding how players earned money.
I think the pendulum got swung too far the other way and now it's a worse system than before.
What happened with Terrelle Pryor, for example, for getting paid to sign autographs, that should have been allowed.
18-year olds getting $2-3m, absolutely not.
You should have 5 years to play 5. You should only be able to transfer once without redshirting.
Should maybe some things like LSU selling Honey Badger type of gear be profitable Tyrann Mathieu when he played...sure.
Shoudl players be able to earn money on their own outside of playing...fine with a limit.
In no way should professional athletes, whether in Europe, G-League, or NBA SL be allowed to return to college. A pro contract whether multiple millions of dollars or a few thousand is a pro contract. Hell, Chieck Diallo just signed with St. Bonaventure. He played a year at Kansas and multiplle years in the NBA and has played for years in Europe.

Let me be clear, I don't want to trade Karlo.
Also, didn't think about Poole.

Jordan Hawkins has to be dealt soon, right? Karlo too maybe?
I think they're going to want to make room for Bufkin or Houstan.

Not a bad low cost pickup
Who would be the LBs?
Elliss, Werner, Stutsman, Ford, Stalbird?
I could see the last two not making it...maybe they wanted some more veteran leadership there?

I definitely agree it would have been better as a series but I loved it nonetheless.
I do wish we got more of their relationships and things too...a lot of story to flesh out...I'm all for an adult series with this animation style and would love for them to remaster the original with it.

I think what you're failing or ignoring to realize...no one wants Poole either.
He's a bad contract, even as an expiring...you are overvaluing your own assets.
We would have to give up more to get off Poole and Hawk, assuming anyone is truly willing to listen. I get the theory in your head and it's not wrong but it's also not the reality.
I think in order to get off both in one deal you have to give up Herb...otherwise, there are no takers...at least not now. Deadline? Maybe, but even then unlikely.

For a team that has little room for error it does. Every move, deservingly or not, must be in the right direction or else it sets you back.
Drafting Hawk in the first place wasn't the best move but that's obviously 20/20 in hindsight.
I follow you're logic if another move had been planned and executed not long after the option was exercised. Here we are a year later with little to no options of improving the roster.
Again, each move in a vacuum is whatever, but in totality? Team has regressed and given itself little room for error.

Mavericks just did the same with Jett Howard last year and he signed a two-way with Dallas.
Kobe Bufkin is another one.

Flip it...
Would you want to give up picks to obtain Jordan Hawkins?
If the answer is no, then why would any NBA team?
This is what I always mean when it comes to further consequences down the road, no matter how small the move is...
That extra $7m would allow us to use MLE right now or maybe we already would have at this point in the offseason. Picking up his option was never the right move.

If Kuminga would take the NTMLE (or really slightly less)
There is a path to get this roster somewhat decent while not paying the tax
Trade 1
NOP-DAL-GS
Pels get Daniel Gafford, Moses Moody
Warriors get Klay Thompson
Mavericks get Jordan Poole, 2030 2nd
Trade 2 (assuming the Cavs sign LeBron)
NOP-CLE
Pels get Jarrett Allen
Cavs get Herb Jones, Jordan Hawkins, Yves Missi
Sign Bufkin to a one-yar min deal
Sign Kuminga to 3-year deal for NTMLE (first year guaranteed with options so he can get back to free agency next year)
Sign Pierre to two-way
Murray / Fears / Bufkin
Trey / Moody / McGowens
Bey / Kuminga / Peavy
Zion / Queen / Karlo
Allen / Gafford / Jordan
Not a world beating team but better fit than last year

It’s really Olynyk or Drew Eubanks at this point unless a trade gets made soon after the LeBron drama ends

Universal has been doing this for years.
I don't think that's true. Never struck me as a guy that disliked it here.
I just think he's been wanting to go back to Europe for awhile. I know he wanted to go last year but the Nuggets blocked him from doing that.

I don't think the team will be allowed to leave. Sliver is invested in keeping them here because of ASG and other events.
That being said, Graves or someone else needs to buy the team. Supposedly many have tried and some have been willing to keep team here but no dice. I think after expansion is the window in which it happens.

I can see Olave, Delp, Brown, Johnson
Don't see Lance, Tyson
Can't make out the others

I contend the more likely trade is Herb
If LeBron signs with Cleveland a trade with the Cavs makes too much sense.
LeBron, Harden, Spida aren't guarding the best wings every night...Herb fits perfectly with them in that regard. Mobley can be their 5.
Two that work:
Herb, Hawk, & Karlo for Jarrett Allen
Herb, Poole, Hawk for Allen & Max Strus
Depends on what LBJ signs for of course
