We didn't come into FA with money to spend. Not sure what everyone was expecting.
We might sign some minimum and exception players, but we never had the cap for a big splash. Instead we made our move with the big trade, and I expect any other big move will also be made with a trade.

Yeah but the problem is all of the players worth our full MLE are pretty much gone.
Very slim pickens now.

We actually have about 14 million we can spend using the bi annual exemption and mid level exemption
The market is almost at a point where there's nobody left thats worthy of spending it on though

I am just waiting on the trade to be finalized (so we know for certain if there are/arent additional parts/players included)
then just waiting for the new Ingram deal

Even through trades it's hard to find someone that's both available/expendable and either better than or complimentary to the combination of Hart/Kenrich.

The Clippers have joined the race for free-agent big men Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol, league sources say
Gasol is considered the more realistic target given the fierce competition for Ibaka headed by Toronto and Brooklyn
The Lakers also seek one more big man, league sources say, but they face much tougher financial constraints in the chase for Gasol after signing Montrezl Harrell away from the Clippers and re-signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

I know that he's just a name at this point and hasn't been good for a few years, but I kind of want to take a chance on Batum. He seems gettable, isn't really THAT old (will be 32 this season), and is a legit "3". I love Kenny Hustle, but I'd rather take my chances on Batum becoming a legit producer, plus he probably has a few things that he can teach Ingram/Lonzo.

ETA: Smiht would absolutely clean up in L.A.

Bring in some hungry guys. Maybe bring Kenrich back too, and just let them compete for roster and rotation spots? Some guys I'd like to see:
Chris Boucher
Norvel Peele
Malcolm Miller
Wenyen Gabriel
Common denominator -- werent drafted high/at all. Have had to scratch & claw
I hate to say the name Christian Wood again but Chris Boucher was a Wood kinda guy, just without a path to playing time bc he wasn’t on a shite team.
Former G League MVP and DPOY out of Oregon. 6’9” with a 7’4” wing, and can jump out the gym
Got some run last year with the Raptors, in the 11 games he played more than 20 minutes:
24.5 mpg
17 ppg
8.5 rpg
1.8 bpg
1 spg
1.8 3pm @ 44% (45 attempts)
53% from the field
79% from the line on 52 FTA
65% TS
+ 19.7 +/-
139 Ortg
102 Drtg
Pretty strong numbers in a small sample

I wonder if AD still has Asik’s number?!?! Lol

Raptors depth is a pretty decent signal too.

He reads my elite board
I had thought Casey Hill may have coached Boucher in the G, but they missed each other at Santa Cruz by a year
Gotta a little Stromile to his game

If you have them, shouldn't you still use them? Of course, you'd have to overpay someone. But can't they be one year, so they are expiring, right (help facilitate trades)..?

Can anyone provide info on Boucher's midrange game? Or his ability to defend outside the paint? He seems more like a legit (though scrawny) center, having lead the Raptors in blocks last season.
Not to keep banging on the Wood drum, but I would have loved him on a reasonable contract as a spark backup 4, with Melli getting similar minutes at the 4/5.
I almost posted that under the assumption that Melli is a good compliment to Hayes, but holy shite they were atrocious together:
Melli is going to get a decent chunk of minutes next to Adams (which hopefully works well), but maybe we really should be looking for a competent 4 that compliments Hayes.
ETA: It looks like Hayes was very efficient alongside Kenny Hustle.

Someone mentioned to him about Melli possibly being included in the deal, and that maybe that’s where the Baynes conversation started. If we include Melli, we could replace him with Baynes via either a partial MLE deal or the BAE. This was a thought that I had earlier as well when going over the possibilities or how to make the money work.
Posted on 11/21/20 at 9:25 pm to Epic Cajun
I haven't seen any indication that Melli is part of the deal.

MLE has to be 3 years, only the first has to be guaranteed though.
