I haven't seen any indication that Melli is part of the deal

It’s just a possibility because we know the deal doesn’t work as currently constructed.

ETA: the person was just throwing out a possibility, not that he heard it or anything. It’s one of the few ways that we can make up the 2-3 mil that we’re coming up short.

Melli possibly being included in the deal,

Melli has a great basketball IQ and a good skill set. No thanks.

MLE has to be 3 years, only the first has to be guaranteed though.

I spent a few minutes Googling with no luck: can years 2 and 3 have absolutely zero guaranteed money? If we use the MLE this year and waive that player next offseason, will we have the ability to use the MLE again in 2021? It's been forever since I've cared about these kind of details, but the back of my brain is telling me that MLE's can't be used in consecutive years.

I mean, I think he’s alright, definitely not someone that a deal falls apart over. He’s on his last year of his deal too. Not saying it’s going to happen, but I think it’s possible.

ETA: especially if he could be replaced by Baynes on a similar contract.

You can use the MLE any year that you are over the cap, and under the tax apron after using it. Edited to clarify.

I think the only rules are that it has to be 3 years, and only the first year has to be fully guaranteed. I don’t think anyone would accept it with multiple nonguaranteed years on it though.

MLE can be 1 year deals.

You're thinking of sign and trades that have to be at least 3 years.

Boucher only attempted 12 shots from 10’ to the 3P line, shot 33%. 34% on jumpers overall including the 3s. 40% of his shots were 3P

He blocked a total of 12 3-pointers last season. There were only six players in the entire league who blocked more and each one of them played considerably more minutes.

quote:

Boucher’s career rate of 4.1 rejections per 100 possessions is impressive. Despite his thin frame, he’s a productive interior player too — his Rebound Rate is among the best at this position (18.7 percent career) and he scores 23.9 points per 100 possessions.

What I was getting at was going after a guy that has non-MLE offers in the 3yr/$15m range with our MLE. Offer that player something like $7.5m the first season with the biggest annual declining salary (4.5%?) possible with seasons 2/3 non-guaranteed. Basically giving that player half of their other offer in 1/3rd the time with the risk of burning out and losing the other half, but the possible gain of playing well enough for the Pels to pick up the remaining two seasons and making way more.

This gives me the feeling that he has a lot of defensive flexibility, but won't fit alongside Adams or Hayes on offense. Might be a good fit alongside Zion, Melli, or Ingram if we're going really small.

He kind of feels like a guy that could come in and be more productive than Hayes, but not so good that he's worth sacrificing Hayes's development.

ETA: I completely missed Boucher's nearly 80% on free throws. That typically projects to the ability to improve long range shooting, but the guy is already 27, so maybe not.

Well, apparently I was thinking of the sign and trade rules rather than the MLE rules, an MLE can be for any number of years up to 4. So, we could pay someone 1 year 9.7 mil if we wanted.

Speaking of sign-and-trades, the Pacers are interested in one for Bogdan Bogdanovic...

Does Atlanta still have space or are they done after bringing in Gallo and Rondo?

ETA: looks like they may have around 15 mil.

I calculated 15, but I bet he’s counting Dunn as the room exception, which would bring it up to about 20-21 mil

Free agent Serge Ibaka has agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers

Free agent Serge Ibaka plans to sign a 2-year, $19M deal with the Clippers with a player option in second season

That makes Gyno-favorite Boucher less gettable. If he was on a SW division team, I'd make an aggressive offer to hurt their cap situation.

Currently we, have one of the fewest players on roster of any team in the league. This is sort of weird.

I expect this to be no issue once our 17 team trade completes
