Is Westworld any good?

Any Sci-fi nerds out there that can tell me if I should invest my valuable time on this show?
I think the original concept was created in a movie by Michael Crichton but I don't remember ever seeing that movie.
I love Crichton's books though.

Season 1 is incredible, it gets progressively worse following S1 but you can view that first season as a complete story so it doesn’t take away from it.

while I agree with the statement, I enjoyed the second season for the most part other than the writers intentionally trying to hide the answers. after that, the show really went off when they got out of Westward itself.

First season is incredible and has a great build up and payoff finale
After that they got addicted to always wanting to trick you from guessing anything that may be going on, with little regard of a coherent narrative or character development. People just do things and go places to subvert whatever potential expectation the audience may have in any given particular scene. And it’s laid out in the most convoluted way as everyone talks in riddles

The first season may be the best single season of television ever made. The second season has some cool ideas but really goes nowhere. The third season has some great ideas but is written and paced terribly. I really don’t understand why season 3 is so bad because all of the pieces of something great are there, but it just is. Season 4 is actually pretty good, but the previous 2 seasons are such a slog, it’s not good enough to justify the journey. Just watch Season 1 and stop.

Season one is amazing.
Season's two and four are solid. If you watch season one I would say watch season two. It doesn't live up to S1 but it's not bad tv either.
Now if you should watch S3 just to get to S4, that's a whole other discussion.

I really wanted to like this show, and parts of it are good. I love the setting.
But the story is just so convoluted. I had a lot of trouble following it. Maybe the show is for people smarter than me or maybe the writers aren’t very friendly to the viewer.
Either way, it didn’t work for me because of the story.
