My buddy in the Boston area makes me laugh. He always talked about how the south is so racist until he came down to Alabama and took a wrong turn. He had never been in a ghetto or seen ghetto trashy people.

The only black he ever interacts with are educated professionals.

Not goofing, was the last season not the last season? He gave away the restaurant and walked away from it at the end right? How do you pick up from that unless he is going to go back to make the steak sandwiches and be happy?

it very well could be. I would assume that they have already eaten the bulk of the costs already in set designs and wardrobe. The costs should be coming down on season 2 and that is probably why they have already renewed rather than viewership guiding it.
I think a lot of what he said is correct and a chunk is wrong.

I think A New Hope was made for kids. kept it simple, showed some cool stuff. I think the rest of the OG Trilogy told the rest of that story to the same kids that were growing up. It was mature enough for adults at the time and simple enough for kids to follow.

The prequels told a continuation of the same story to a new set of kids while wrangling in the old adults. They were a cohesive story with a known ending. They weren't ever going to be super popular because they were trying to tell a lot of story in 3 movies with an ending that was always going to be the same. This is why the Clone Wars and the expanded prequel universe is so good. There is a lot of material you can make for that era that is great.

The sequels were made for a different audience. Disney thought that the fanbase would be built in and they could cater to the edges of fandom and that didn't work because the original fans didn't want that. They didn't just gobble up a turd and smile, they fought back on bad storytelling and bad characters that were underdeveloped.

Rey isn't a bad character, she is just too powerful too quickly. Finn could have been a wonderful character and they abandoned him (and this is coming from someone who thinks that Boyega is a pretty shitty actor). Poe got neutered. They introduced new and boring shitting female characters no one gave a shite about. They killed off the legacy character that connected everything while the actress who played the other legacy character actually died and they used CGI to keep her alive in the movies.

The sequels were made to try to bring females into Star Wars and that just doesn't work. Typically, women aren't into sci-fi movies and universes as much as men. You have to cater to your audience.

I don't think this has a happy ending. The theme song is literally "whatever will be, will be." I don't think Julie can change anything and there's a decent chance that her attempts will somehow cause them all to end up there in the first place

Im not sure she will be able to "travel" outside the town but I don't think she will be able to change anything either. The only hang up is when we first meet the MiY, she ran in saying something about changing. I don't remember if she says she changed something or she said she couldnt.

I think it will take a bit of a hit this year but then get better each year. We were limited by the overall team before.

Like has been stated and beaten to death, our offense has been shite for 10 years due to the offensive line. When we had bangers in there, the rest were so bad they drug the good ones down.

Hopefully, a new and upcoming coach will breath life into the team and I think Golesh can. He has said and done everything right so far. He needs a year or two of P5 "success" to be able to recruit at high levels. If I was an 18 year old looking at schools as a top tier offensive player, I would have taken a pay cut not to play for Auburn the last 10 years. Our offense has been horrible and put no one in the league worth noting.

I think our defense will continue to get better with a step down this year.

I am hoping for competitive games week in and week out and 8 or 9 wins would be a success with our schedule. There is a good chance we start 4-0 and then travel to Arkansas at 4-4. 8 wins would be a pretty good regular season, it would mean that we had one or two "upsets" for the season.

Then they'll feel the wrath of every single American who currently makes more than $25/hr (which is probably most people who work). Every single one of them will lose big time, and it'll take YEARS for THEIR wages to catch up to the astronomical rise in prices.

this is the part that everyone misses. If min wage is 7.25 now and someone has worked for 5 years for a company and now makes 14.50. They have gotten skills and exactly 100% in wage increases in the time they have worked there. What are you going to pay them if min wage goes to 25 an hour? are you going to bump them to 25 an hour and pay them the same as the person walking in the door with no skill set at all or are you going to pay them 32.50 and amount to an increase of basically 20% rather the 100% increases they have had? Are you going to pay them 50 an hour and double min wage like they had done before?

In reality, none of these are true. They will most likely be replaced by an automated robot of some sort that can do the job more efficiently and without labor regulations governing breaks and such.
I've got a guy that works on the asphalt crew that looks a lot like this.
I see everyone is making jokes about it but im going to ask the real question: is there a rule saying you have to supply water cups? I've never understood why they will give the cheap clear water cups to watch people go over and get a soda.

If I owned a fast food place and had to provide water cups, they would be the size a thimble. They would barely hold a 1/2 oz of drink.

Im torn and will probably wait to see if I want to go to the theaters at all.

Star Wars certainly hurt its brand but Covid killed the theater experience in general. This movie would haver topped a billion 6 years ago. No one goes to theaters anymore because they all bought big arse TVs at the house and they already have streaming stuff for 10 services. It takes a special movie to get people to show up to the theaters anymore.
man I just went down a pseudo rabbit hole on Bowden. I knew he coached at Akron but apparently he coached at LA Monroe for 3 years and was fired and now coaches the Monroe Arena League team.

He lived in Auburn several years after he was fired because I was there and saw him around. He still lived in the schools house they gave him and drove the cars that were still under his contract that the school had to provide for him and his family. He was a weasel.

I knew several of the players that played for him and they all hated him. A few of them told me that he didn't know any of their names other than Dameyune Craig. They said he would just point at them and call them You.

Has anyone on here had a hip replacement?

my old college roommate, 49, has had both of his replaced. he had the thing where blood flow gets cut off and the bones sort of rot from the inside.

The first one went really well at about 38 or 39 and the second one was about 5 years later but he really had a tough time with it. said that he got an infection on the cut and the rehab people kept opening it back up accidentally. a week later they had to go cut a little more from around it and sew it back up and then it was ok.

Another friend of mine has had the same one replaced twice. he was born with one leg a little shorter than the other so it wallowed out the hip bone. the first time it was extended and replaced. It never seemed to be right at that point and the second one extended it a bit more and replaced and you wouldn't know it was even done other than a slight limp. Both recoveries were minimal.

I like Favreau, so I hope he knocks it out of the park. But I'm just not seeing much hype for this film. What are your predictions for it?

I think Pedro Pascal fatigue is setting in at this point. I will go see it because I have been a huge Star Wars nerd since I was young. I think it will be a more family centered fun movie. Hard core older fans probably won't like it as much as the OG trilogy (shocker) but the younger fans will really enjoy it.

Overall, it won't make a billion at the office but I think those days are over in the cinemas. I think it will land around 500 million and stick there. It will get a big rush up front for a couple weeks and if they let it linger for a couple months in the theaters, it will trickle it's way to 500 million.

So I’m hoping you were being facetious when you said no one wanted him fired and that he is the best coach we’ve ever had.

in reality, he might have been the best coach we ever had. He was a 65-70% win percentage against the toughest competition that we ever faced week in and week out with our two biggest rivals being at their absolute best in their histories. Who would you argue is above him? Tuberville? Tubs was solid but he was roughly the same win percentage against much inferior opponents with Alabama being the worst they were in 30 years.

I don't disagree, ultimately, parting ways with Gus. My problem is that we did it on a throwaway Covid year that meant jack shite and we have been cursed since.

Not only are you still clueless behind the why of this, but your best defense is weak as frick

well the fact that California added about 25 cents of taxes to fuels when Trump took office is a big reason why this happened. They were already the highest taxed state on fuel and they added more and then they went to war with the refineries there.

Now, to be honest, this war is hurting the pump price but it is hurting it less than Biden's war against big oil in general.

Diesel is about 5.50 here in south Alabama as of a couple days ago.

Id be good with this solution. shite, between that and my Roth/401k, I could build a new house and retire now at 47. I have paid in close to 200k into it over 34 years. Even at a measly 3 or 4% interest, I would be a millionaire now and I could stick that in dividend funds and live the rest of my life.

I will never get out of SS what I have contributed with any interest.

I am one that actually thinks retirement age shouldnt be a consideration with benefits, it should be amount of time contributed and then you get a monthly amount based on what you put in.
I've been doing concrete since I was 13. My first job was being dropped off and the waste water treatment in Eufaula each day by a different company and having to manage myself and my time. I had to go around the bottom of the pond and chip the little edge off the bottom so we could install a liner for the pond. I worked every holiday and summer leading up to my senior year. I made minimum wage the whole time but a 13 year old rocking a $120 check going to the mall in 1991 was pretty fricking balling. Tacos at Taco Bell were .39 each, arcade was a quarter so a $10 bag of tokens would last me a couple weeks. fricking best years.
