Randomly paired with Teemu Selänne in a charity golf event; even shared a cart with him. It was like playing golf with your good friend. Absolute blast.

Plus Kyle Larson before the last race at Fontana right after national anthem. He could not have been nicer to my son and even went to locate a pen so that he could sign diecast.

Rickie Fowler
Robert Horry
Avery Johnson
Jordan Spieth
Martin Brodeur
Todd Gurley
Tyson Chandler
Eddie Lacy

Were some of those that were pretty famous and stood out as extremely nice or pleasant. Gurley in particular was awesome

Did his reputation get better?? Used to only hear horror stories about him.

Never heard these horror stories. Met Dirk in a bar once after a game. He signed my game ticket and was nice enough. He seemed shy if anything.

Don't have any idea what you're talking about. I've never heard anyone that has said anything bad about him.

Todd Wade - Former Ole Miss offensive lineman who played for a few different NFL teams in the early 2000's.

LONG ago, I was in Florida on a bachelor party when I hooked up with some girl at a bar. She begged me to come back to she and her friend's condo for the night. I thought things were REALLY going somewhere until along the ride her friend told me the condo was actually owned by a guy (read the friend's F-buddy) who was a professional football player and who was coming in for the weekend. At first, I thought it was BS. But then the name sounded too obscure to be made up.

Shortly after arriving this monster of a guy shows up. Clearly he was a football player. At that point I got a little worried this dude was going to want to kick my arse for being a rando in his condo. OR I was about to be an unwilling participant to some weird sex ritual. But just the opposite happen. He was incredibly nice. He introduced himself and told me to help myself to whatever I wanted while he and the other chick quickly went into his bedroom.

The girl I was with went into the other bedroom. I figured at that point things would just naturally progress to the inevitable. But instead ALL she wanted me to do was take a shower while she watched. Not get in the shower with me, or even just take her own shower after me before getting on to things in the bedroom, but literally just watch me shower. She was insistent that was ALL she wanted to do and there would be nothing else. Every attempt to get her away from that thought was quickly rebuffed. It was at that point I thought "is this girl going to try to skin me alive"? Given she wasn't all that hot to begin with I politely declined and ended up leaving.

Worst was Barry Bonds. I was 12 and he was an absolute dick to me at a meet the Pirates event. So much so that Bobby Bonilla and John Smiley came over to get him away from me and the other kids. I legitimately think he was drunk. Kids had baseball cards that they were trying to get signed, he was grabbing them and throwing them and tearing them in half. Told some kids to frick off; literally. They were around 8 years old. Bonilla came running over and grabbed him with Smiley and dragged him off.

What an absolute sack of shite.

Ben Davidson, former Oakland Raider Offensive Tackle. I knew him socially in the Bay Area in the 1990's. Ten years later I am at JazzFest and I hear Ben yell, "Hey Mike, what are you doing here?" Couldn't have been nicer.

Devery Henderson, sat next to him on a plane ride not long after his career was over. Very mellow, soft spoken, and very nice

Nicest: Michael Sam (Football Player)

I have met some other Pro Athletes before but he just seemed to be going out of his way to be extra.

He kept offering to give me a foot massage because he heard I had a long walk earlier that day.

Gotta second Phil Niekro too, great guy.

At the same location (celebrity golf tourney) I also met the meanest: Dick Butkus. No surprise.

I met Jim Lachey, former Redskins OT and current Ohio State radio color commentator, at a sports banquet a few years ago. Nicest and most humble guy you’ll ever meet.

I only met 1 big time athlete in my life. And that was Big Willie Roaf. Met him in a hotel bar room in Shreveport right after his rookie year. Such a incredibly kind and humble man. Very soft spoken. The guy is literally the size of a door. He seemed excited that I recognized him. We shook hands - the whole time I was thinking he could grab me by the face with one hand and crush it and there wouldn't be a damn thing I could do about it. lol

Like the idiot I am, I never thought of asking for a autograph.

Nicest - Dirk hands down. Not an athlete but a coach - Ron Washington. When I was in college, he was the coach for the Rangers and he came into a restaurant I worked at for to-go food. Took a picture with the entire staff and we talked baseball until his food was ready. Both are super genuine people

Worst - Rafael Palmeiro. I played baseball with one of his sons and he's an absolute dick. This was before he got caught with steroids
