The 1954 Indians went 111-43, the best record in the history of the AL, won the pennant by 8 games, and were swept by the NY Giants in the series. ...
the complete statement from the umpire
Tl;dr “Boone didn’t say anything, the fans were yelling at me and someone from the Yankee dugout might’ve said something after I warned them, so I threw out Boone.” This just makes him look worse. This clown belongs in the bush leagues....
“I don’t care who said it, you’re gone” Imagine an ump saying that to Billy Martin or Lou Piniella. ...
The downfall of Rory, speith
You’re getting downvotes, but the fall of Spieth from budding superstar to irrelevant has been a shame for the sport. The majors are most fun when you have multiple stars who are neck and neck. ...
There’d actually be a compelling argument for Mickelson if not for the six second place finishes at the US Open. If he’d pulled it out there just once it would’ve given him a career grand slam and seven majors to his name. I’ll never forget watching the meltdown at Winged foot in 2006. ...
Legend and American hero. Kind of sad that he won’t be directly involved in the sport anymore with coaching but it was probably time. ...
Dumb. Most cfb fans follow high school football as well. ...
14 or more

more auto-bids
This would make the conference championship games even more meaningless than they’re going to be with the 12 team format. We are going to see a lot of NFL Week 18-style duds in the future college football. ...
How many fans are like me in that they're utterly disgusted with what has happened to college football?
The problem with cfb is that it turned into an arms race where every school and conference has had to look out for #1. It’s been a ruderless ship with no central authority, govern...

re: What am I missing on JJ McCarthy?

He’s 6’3”, athletic, with a good arm. He was good enough to win the playoffs with a very complete team around him throwing ~20 times a game. Nothing spectacular. I agree with OP. Certainly not ready to be an nfl starter in the vein of Stroud....
The Browns
These are all the famous ones from the 80s when they actually had good teams. There’s an entire menu of “signature losses” they’ve had since the return in 99. Basically at least one very year. Collapse against the Bears in 01, the Dwayne Rudd helmet game, bottlegate, th...

I remember reading something similar years ago when he was the Browns OC. Colt McCoy basically said in a nice way that Daboll was a massive ahole who treated McCoy like dirt. ...

This could’ve been a good system with the old P5. 5 conference champs are AQs, automatic bid for the best G5 team, and then two at larges. Would’ve kept the regular season more meaningful. ...
