re: Football Commit Langlois 10.79 100M Champ - TigerAlum93
LSU has had several DB's run 10.5 or better 100m FAT times, and they were good football players. They have also had DBs like Tre White who never broke 11 flat in high school, yet ran sub 4.5 laser times at the combine and were/are ELITE DB's. It is a good indicator that the athlete has excepti...

re: Football Commit Langlois 10.79 100M Champ - TigerAlum93
Everybody in the 5A 100m finals runs under 11 flat FAT, and it usually takes 10.45-10.5 or better to win it. Smaller schools sometimes have kids just as fast, just not as many. A 10.8 FAT 100m high school time is fast, shows the kid has legit long speed. ...

re: What's the point of coaches pitch baseball? - TigerAlum93
little league pretty much went to coach pitch and so did usssa so others followed. I grew up that you went tball then 7-8 was pitching machine. but it does teach them to get the live arm action down. Bad part is a lot of times the team with best pitcher wins the game. i see it both ways...

re: Jack Walker throws a no hitter vs Denham Springs - TigerAlum93
This board will go wild if both Jack Walkers from Louisiana turn out to be studs and we missed on both.
Get ready. Jack will be a thorn in the side of many SEC hitters for the next 3-4 years. His stuff is that good. Literally no-hit type stuff every time he takes the mound. Veloc...

re: LHSAA Playoff baseball brackets released - TigerAlum93
That’s only rounds 2,3. Rounds 1, 4, and 5 are single elimination. Barbe is still Barbe and will always be the favorite.
You are correct. I just felt that Barbe had a "better than average" chance of winning round 1 with a 1 seed vs. a 32 seed at home. Then you get into rounds 2 an...

Could be a Barbe vs Live Oak finals. Barbe will be very hard to beat with their pitching depth in a best of three series. ...

re: How big is the drop-off defensively from Milazzo to Travinski? - TigerAlum93
Catcher is still the one spot in baseball that you can stay in the lineup if you are elite defensively but not so much on offense. Middle defense (SS and CF) used to be that way back in the day too, you did not have to hit as much if you were a plus defender, now everybody is expected to hit well ...

re: Ja'Marr Chase putting up 23 reps at 225 plus Updates - TigerAlum93
LSU Pro Days are notorious for being faster than many others. Some of that is because we simply have faster athletes, but there is some truth to our "improved" Pro Day times. Many guys have run at the combine, then run at LSU a week or two later, only to see drastically faster times. There are many...

re: Any good guesses on Chase & Marshall's 40s? - TigerAlum93
I’d be shocked if either were over 4.50 with some of these times I’m seeing
Agree. Saw this coming with no Combine at Indy. A bunch of “unofficial” pro day times, expect the times to be faster than expected. ...

Jerry Rice ran a 4.6 hand timed 40, guys like Cooper Kupp ran mid 4.6 at the combine, Howard has good speed and will do well when he has to run. ...

re: Barbe-Sam Houston on CST now - TigerAlum93
Sam Houston was ranked Nationally in the top 5 for much of 2019. Probably their best team ever. Year in and year out they ARE a very strong 5A program. They just happen to be in the same district as Barbe, otherwise you would probably see a few more championship banners flying at their park. Baseba...

re: Batting average and On-base % for HS - TigerAlum93
You would like your ideal leadoff guy to hit for average and have a high OBP. At the 5A high school level, any average over 0.300 and any OBP over 0.400 would be doing well. If the guy is a good base stealer that is a huge plus, as those walks/HBP can easily turn into "doubles" with a stolen base....

re: Milazzo behind the plate - TigerAlum93
1) Throwing out 2 of 7 is actually not bad. You can't throw all of them out. 2) Just the threat of having him behind the plate keeps people from running. Only 7 steal attempts against you after this many games have been played is a small number. If anyone else is catching, the other teams ...

re: LSU Baseball Schedule Strength to Date - TigerAlum93
What should be coming evident now is that college baseball rosters at ALL levels are as deep and as talented as they have ever been due to COVID related issues like added eligibility, reduced MLB draft, etc, which should lead to even more parity. ...
Can he beat out a starter at LSU right now?
I have not seen enough of LSU to answer that. I am not sure that is the right question to ask. Would he be an asset to their roster? No question! I've seen the guy play 3B, 2B, and 1B equally well. Can play corner outfield too. Hi...

The only thing I can confirm is that Jack hits the ball really hard just about every at bat, also has a high OBP, so it makes him a really tough out to get! Also can play just about anywhere in the field!...

re: LSU Baseball 2021 (and beyond) Recruiting Thread - TigerAlum93
Jack is a plus hitter who can play MANY positions well. HUGE addition to any roster. LSUE is loaded, very deep and talented roster that will see many of them move on to play in top D1 programs. Several guys hitting around 0.400, speed, power, several quality arms, well coached. ...
