Now this a I can respect. That’s really great. Good on him to do this when a somewhere local judge wouldn’t. Unless he knows he won’t get taken and then comes back. I hope he gets taken.

Make no mistake, this is a result of the other conferences threatening to boycott them. It’s not some newly found integrity amongst TT or the Sorsby camp.

TT expected the Big 12 to cower and instead got a lawsuit and AGs from Utah, Kansas, and Oklahoma backing the B12 up. All bark and no bite.

Texas Tech, foolishly, didn’t anticipate the near unanimous backlash they received from everyone…fans, opposing schools/coaches/ADs and even their own conference. They tried to justify their actions (and yes, the lawsuit was driven by Tech boosters and fully supported by the HC, even if not publicly stated) with some BS sob story which only made things worse. They then thought the story would just fizzle out.
What that left was them and Sorsby facing a season of being blackballed by everyone, especially their own conference. The Big 12 action was the tipping point because at some point sooner or later there will be more conference realignment and it is probably not a great idea to be a pariah not only in your own conference, but to the rest of the conferences. Particularly, when for most of your athletic history you’ve been a general afterthought. They wisely realized that saving Sorsby and this season wasn’t worth it in the long run.
What that left was them and Sorsby facing a season of being blackballed by everyone, especially their own conference.
