Can a player come back with eligibility if they enter the supplmental draft and don’t get picked? I guess these days, they’d just find a local judge to rule they could play if the NCAA rules said no anyway

Idk. This doesn't feel like a one sided departure. This feels like both sides going this isnt worth it. So I doubt Tech would even welcome him back

I hope he goes to Cincinnati so the ghost of Pete Rose can frick with him and sports for eternity

Of course, if he would have kept his head down & mouth shut and not been a greedy, narcissistic, degenerate gambler. He’d be preparing for his final year of eligibility, a legitimate front runner for the Heisman, and staring at generational wealth…*check’s notes* at the University of Cincinnati. Lubbock is where dreams go to die

But it will cause him irreparable harm to not play college football this year.

I’m guessing the family, not school, is behind this sensible decision.

Not a chance, this was the school telling him it wasn’t going to work out after their hand was forced. I’m not even sure if NFL teams will touch him at this point.
This dude isn’t some can’t miss talent which is why the entire TT wiling to burn it all down never made any sense. It was a cocky booster that has the entire athletic department in his pocket

Perhaps he might get picked up by the UFL or something like that. I just don't see any possible way a billion dollar NFL franchise is stupid enough to pick up a guy who is a complete lock to throw away games for money.

They wisely realized that saving Sorsby and this season wasn’t worth it in the long run.
I think they’re too late for that and the damage has been done. They’re going to be a pariah for a while after this whole fiasco, especially with the current AD and Cody Campbell being chair of the board of regents.

Probably but they're not exactly the sexiest option for other conferences. Unless they want to be the mega big dog of the new Pac-12

so he's started 31 games in his college career and with a 13-18 record.

61.4 % career completion percentage

70 TD's
18 INT's

over 1,200 yards rushing with 22 more TD's on the ground.

I was asking just in general, not specific to Sorsby

Glad it did. The quicker we get to the bottom the quicker wholesale changes will happen.

Don’t forget the open letter their moron AD had written up and released

quote:

I've heard the word "integrity" used a great deal in the last 48 hours. As someone who has dedicated his career to college sports, I, too, believe integrity is central to our industry's success. I also think integrity applies on more than one front. The integrity of sport matters. So does the integrity of how we treat a 22-year-old who sought help, entered residential treatment, and is working every day toward recovery. Those two things don't have to be in conflict.

quote:

Let me be direct about what Texas Tech's position actually is: we are glad Brendan is still part of our community, because that is where we can extend him the best possible support in his ongoing recovery. Clinical care, device monitoring, financial oversight, outpatient therapy . That infrastructure exists because we take our responsibility to this young man seriously. We spent Monday after the judge's ruling getting those systems stood up for him, not thinking about X's and O's. Pulling him out of a structured environment, away from his team and his support system, does not protect anyone. It might be a cleaner headline, but it wouldn't be the right one. And it wouldn't be true to the institutional values that guide us every day.

I posted this a week ago, I always figured it would come to this... Very bad look for Texas Tech as a whole...

Nah. He should dip out today... His legacy is already crumbling fast. He can save some face by doing the right thing. Now TT and their douche bag booster can go f themselves... I still hope teams don't schedule them if he plays or not.

Hopefully schools in other conferences blackball TTU for a while and refuse to schedule them for in any sport unless TTU gets rid of the idiots in charge who thought it would be a good idea to dig their heels in on this situation.
