None.
That’s the point. They never have to promote anyone because they’re just signing the best players available every offseason or using artificially inflated prospect capital to make trades like this one.
It’s unsustainable, bad for the league as a whole, and will lead to a lockout. Probably a cap, too.

I know they didn’t have a ton of leverage, but it seems like a rather weak haul in return for the best pitcher in the sport.

Why is any of this a catalyst for a lockout? Are enough owners upset at a select few of their own to lock out labor? Are the owners in desperate need of a salary cap to protect themselves against each other and agree to a salary floor?
It doesn't seem like MLBPA is concerned unless the floor the owners want to implement is too low.

Skubal would’ve been a 3 month rental for most teams, including the brewers, because he’s a free agent at seasons end. Brewers weren’t looking to risk their future on that.

Pushing their chips in and going for it is the only way they'll win a world series. Ask their fans if they'd rather 1 championship then a few down years afterwards or a top 3 regular season team that gets bounced in the playoffs every year. Neither is guaranteed obviously, but Skubal on this Brewers team gives them a great shot.
Also, the Brewers farm system might be better than the Dodgers, so the idea that trading 2-3 of their prospects "depletes" them and puts them back years probably isn't true.

They are the only team that doesn't have to share their local TV revenue. They aren't "well run" they just have an advantage no other team has.
They also get a lot more leeway in deferring salary. Manfred vetoed the same scam for other teams.

You have to ask - would fan involvement be greater in a scenario with a world series win and shitty seasons after? Or continuously making the playoffs and contending over the next 4 - 5 years?
Being a good team and consistently contending over the long term seems more lucrative for fan involvement than winning a single world series and being shite the rest of the time.
The Marlins have won 2 world series in the last 30 years and I dont think it added a single new fan to their revenue.

To say they are not well run in a relative sense is not fair, but to say they did not have tremendous good fortune with their tv contract in the timing of it is very convenient and obtuse.
Before that the Dodgers were not considered the model franchise, that $350 million a year from that tv contract sure does help.
