Sympathy, no. Compassion, yes. If he starts blaming that on poor play then it’s an issue. Depression can certainly impact one’s ability to work.

I 100% agree

But also when suffering mental health issues there are certain jobs one likely shouldn’t be performing

I get being upset with this but when you make that kind of money and have that type of responsibility your personal flaws are fair game weather they are under your control or not. I have always liked Dak, hopefully he can use this as motivation to prove him wrong.

I responded to your comment. I choose not watch or listen to Bayless.

If Dak cant rise above adversity then he shouldnt be cashing paychecks. Skip is 100% correct on this one. NFL players will have zero sympathy or will not follow a QB who is saying he is depressed.

Once again, it’s not as simple as just looking beyond it. Unfortunately, depression, anxiety, OCD, etc. often can’t just be shut off. If they could be, there wouldn’t be people who feel that their only way out is suicide. Having depression and being open about that also shouldn’t be something that makes you ineligible to hold an important job. Dak hasn’t indicated that he won’t be ready come Sunday. A lot of people find ways to cope and work through their struggles and continue to function, but some days it’s hard to do that, and I think that’s what Dak was saying when he said there were days he couldn’t workout.

I doubt he really means that or maybe he does. But he got people talking and posting about it and that’s the endgame for these hot take fricks and the media.

And you think being a QB is one of them? There are tons of athletes dealing with this. You just don’t know it.

Also, aren’t you the one sympathetic to the BLM movement? Athletes coming out as feeling oppressed could also be a sign of weakness, yes?

Yes. If you can’t make workouts, you can’t properly play the position

You’re willing to die on this hill, huh.

It was an absolute horrible thing to say, and every point you’ve made about it has been completely off base.

I can almost guarantee you his teammates would rally behind helping him, and are glad he opened up.

Just because you played a sport in college doesn’t make you the expert on this topic. Not even a little.

You are right. Men in America don’t view depression as weakness. Especially when that depression keeps a man from showing up to work

Maybe in your profession it’s considered a weakness to be honest about your mental health. But it’s not in mine, and it’s not in many others.

You’re off base on this one, by a mile.

I think people underestimate just how tight he is with his brothers. Dad was in and out of their lives and their mom was an absolute GEM of a woman. After they lost her all Dak had was his brothers and his HS coach. He's had a TON put on his shoulders and he and Jase were extremely close. Not to mention how out of the blue it was.

I get the angle Skip was going for, but as someone who knows them somewhat personally, it's way more than "your brother died suck it up".

Provided you are honest about it I find most people are pretty supportive.

quarterback of an NFL team, you know this better than I do, it’s the ultimate leadership position in sports
It's just football, an ultimately meaningless game. Wtf is wrong with Bayless?
