LSU Was A Massive TV Draw During College Football's Opening Weekend

LSU was one of the biggest draws in college football during Week 1, both on Saturday morning and later that night.

ESPN's College GameDay averaged 2.8 million viewers for its season-opening show from LSU's campus, making it the third-most-watched regular-season episode in the show's history and the second-most-watched opening weekend edition ever.

The final hour of GameDay averaged 3.5 million viewers as the show celebrated its 500th road episode and 15th trip to LSU.

The big numbers continued later that night when LSU hosted Clemson in Lane Kiffin's debut with the Tigers.

LSU's dominant 51-10 victory over Clemson averaged 5.8 million viewers on ABC, making it the most-watched game of ESPN's Week 1 slate.

For comparison, Auburn's win over Baylor drew 4.2 million viewers, while Alabama's win over East Carolina averaged 3.8 million.
