Not LSU related but one question in regards to the USC Trojans baseball facility upgrades

USC is apparently updating their football, soccer and baseball facilities. The baseball stadium will upgrade to 2,500 seats!
How does a program that has 12 natties have such a poor program now. I get that their run was in the 70s, but damn. Hell even for multiple decades there was a west coast baseball fear in Omaha and these guys were never present. Incredible to see them boast 2,500 capacity in their recent announcement.

2500 is generous for a base that doesn't care for it

MLB in town so no one cares about college baseball

there are sports that rank higher on their food chain there, also sometimes you have to pick and choose where you're going to spend when it comes to complying with Title IX

L.A. honestly doesn't seem like a sports city other than for the Dodgers and Lakers. You might get some bandwagon seasons for other teams here and there like the Kings when Gretzky was there and USC under Carroll, but Dodgers/Lakers are the only 2 teams that seem to have a consistent following independent of their performance or players/coaches they have

College athletics in the state of California just isn’t as big as it is here.

They just had 82,000 for MLS

Outside of the south, not many places give a rat’s arse about college baseball.

Was there in March and it is very bad. A food truck outside of stadium was all they had. Scoreboard was very basic. I doubt that the upgrades will move the needle much for USC.

Yeah that metro area is over double the population of Louisiana. Close to triple. It's a pro sports area and mainly basketball and baseball.

Have you every thought about what kind of people tat might not like college baseball and then wonder about Los Angeles?

It's really as simple as there is other shite to do in LA besides watching college baseball... not the case for Baton Rouge.
I say that as someone who is a huge baseball fan that grew up in BR, but I mean we gotta use common sense here.

UCLA is another powerhouse program. Unless they’ve upgraded, they seat what, 1200 when we played out there in the Regional in what, 2010?
With all the things to spend the sports and entertainment dollar on in Southern California, college baseball is way down the list.

You say there's nothing to do here, but it's not a cornfield in the middle of Kansas. Sure, it's not LA, but there is plenty do do around here. If you have kids that play sports, or go to church on Sundays, You really have to put in the effort to get to the Box.
The BR area has what, 600K people? So LA has 25x more people. You would think the the law of averages would mean you could get at least half as many people to show up at a USC baseball game. Filling that stadium would essentially be the equivalent to getting 100 people to show up at an event in BR.
Even Stanford, which has expectations of Omaha year in and year out has a small ballpark. I think it holds 5700, but looks much smaller. College baseball just isn't big in the west. The main thing is that the Pac-12 just doesn't prioritize it. It's like the SEC used to be with basketball.

Back when USCw playing in the CWS against LSU, the Trojans didn't even have their own radio station carrying the games. They had to piggy back on a local station.

That's one of the issues of many. I know if there was an effort by the media in LA or at USC to cover it, they could build interest. I don't know how much radio airtime in LA costs though.

College baseball for the most part is a terrible product

There’s plenty to do in Austin and DFW and UT and TCU have no problem drawing huge crowds. It’s as simple as people there don’t give a shite

Nobody at USC cares about college baseball. Most water polo matches have better crowds and a million times better atmosphere.
