How can you distinguish a clean tackle from behind vs a hip-drop tackle.

Ex. Picture #2

If the defender is running to catch up from behind, the wrap-up will end up falling to their hips 99% of the time right??

Would love some clarity from someone w more experience than I, but I just dont see how its possible to tackle someone from behind and it not be exactly like ex.2

You know if theyre going to make so many penalties can we at least get rid of the 15 yard personal foul/auto first for things that arent egregious (throwing punches, obvious intentional pass interferences, etc.) that would make this a bit more tolerable for me. Making something subjective like this a 15 yard penalty is incredibly ignorant.

How are you supposed to tackle someone from behind now?

This is what I am not getting...there are so many angles for a player to take.

So if I am db coming off coverage and Kelce is running down the field, what can I do. Run past him and have him trip over me. Catchup to him and try and hold on but not touch the top of the shoulder pads then a horse collar is called. Or I can target his knees or kidneys with a tackle from behind where he might not see me as that is all i can do.

“Finally more rules!” -No one

Keep it going. You should be allowed to use future timeouts from the next game. And the option to go for 3. Can’t have ankle tackling either.

Good luck trying to enforce this. It’s too open to interpretation, just like the catch rules

And here’s the problem, they already can’t keep up as it is so this will result in more frickery of “well if it kind of looks like it, I’m just going to throw the flag” and since this is to artificially manufacture offense the NFL will be fine with that, fans will bitch, but ratings will be fine.

Get ready for even more below average players to rack up huge stats. 6,000 yards passing here we come.

That’s going to be so difficult on a defender. How is this real?

How are you going to chase down a ball carrier? Especially one much larger. How can the NFL be so dumb?

So I wonder if it's just a 15-yard penalty or automatic disqualification either way that's lame AF.

Another difficult rule that will be used to help tilt games when needed. This is going to be hilarious to watch.

Can’t wait till the NCAA adopts this too. SEC officials will go crazy with this.

I used to watch a lot of NFL. I just don’t care anymore. They have done everything to cater to the sidewalk fans.

Pretty sure it's not. Anything below the shoulders with an attempt to wrap up (no shoulder charges) is fair game.

Unless this is a rule specific to rugby league and not the much more common and widespread rugby union.

The numbers that matter most — money and TV ratings — are up for the NFL. There’s one number that is down that the league doesn’t like.

“Statistically, what gives us concern a little bit is scoring,” Competition Committee chairman Rich McKay said during a Thursday conference call. “Scoring this year at 43.5 is still above an historical marker, which has kind of been that 43 mark. But we were at 49 points per game during COVID [in 2020], and we went to 45 [in 2021], we went to 43.76 [in 2022], and now we’re down to 43.54.”

Everyday Fan:

“Man, I’m really enjoying the lower scoring games. Others must be enjoying it as well, we’re tuning in with record numbers!”

NFL Execs and Competition Committee:

“What the frick are the fans thinking?!?!? Enjoying defense??? frick that shite, we’re going to ban tackling.”

It’s more like they just assume the every day fan will always tune in. It’s about getting the non regulars to tune in.

From people at the NFL meeting, this tackle is used as a prime example of what should be a penalty. I mean what the frick this is just a tackle. I truly think this roasts the nfl
