what does Trump want?
Well, he is elevating Mamdami to the top level of the Dems/Commies. They will run these commercials for years saying, is this what you want America? Free this, free that? Yes, might work in big cities, but most places common sense still prevails.
Brilliant by Trump, as the new face of the Dems Mamdami is a socialist, along with AOC, etc...

re: VT about to get real competitive in the ACC
Posted by tccdc on 11/20/25 at 6:48 am to Kenna City Solja
Here is my take with my orange and maroon glasses.
Our athletic dept has ignored football for way too long. Example, we have the highest spend in the ACC on womens basketball by some margin. Example 2, when Odom was fired from Mizzu back in the day, Fuente tried to bring him in but the AD would not pay for him and we ended up with a 1st time DC and essentially helped sink Fuente.
So earlier this year, VT essentially committed money to be the same as Clemson and FSU. Yes, lots of wasted money right now in the ACC :banghead:
VT then made a sneaky good hire by bringing in a guy from the Univ of Tennessee who is great at fundraising. Our HOkie Club has been a joke for decades on talking to the big donors, finding new donors, etc
Anyways, Pry gets fired and they start pursuing coaches, but when Franklin became available Bud Foster reached out and the dance started.
One of the key items was our NIL from Franklin. Well that has been resolved as donors started stepping up. For example, one guy who never gave money to football gave 10-15 million and said that would continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Stated many times, we are not Ohio St, LSU, etc...but we have many rich alumni that have never been tapped so if we can just get close to our potential we can be constant contenders for the ACC each year.
Lastly, Frankly also had demands on staff (from NIL to social media) that schools like LSU, Ole Miss would laugh at to even need to discuss but our AD needed it.
So, I am happy that we will finally invest into the sport that is the most important to VT. And oh, Franklin does not win big games, hell I just want to get back to being angry about losing big games. I get nervous playing teams like ODU and that is not acceptable.
My hope for next year is 7 wins or more, as there is a lot to fix. And by 2027 start competing for the ACC champ game.
Anyways, it is great to have hope and a plan again.

Here is what I know...some connected and some guesses
- VT has committed to the monies they said they would, some people are saying it is all coming from donations, that is not true. VT knows that if there is another round of expansion it is now or never.
- the day he was let go, we reached out to Sexton and said whenever he is ready to talk we are
- as most of you all know, our AD has been a screw up for years...he has diverted so much money to baseball (great sport, but does not pay the bills in blacksburg), womens bb (highest monies in ACC :/ ), etc...
- Franklin put out many demands on number of staff and salaries that we have agreed. We are still behind as of today, but when Fuente flirted with Baylor he at least got some more staff. We will have to build a football only center which is a great thing to meet his staff needs.
- NIL - Essentially asked us to double what we have had and supposedly PSU was not as giving as we may believe. We agreed to that. Frankly our donors have so pissed off for years, they are happy to give the money, the planes, etc
- His wife loves Blacksburg and towns like it. He has been to Blacksburg at least twice and some say 3 times.
- On Friday one of the key insiders at both PSU and VT said it was done and now it is about announcing.
- Pry while a terrible coach, was great at many other things such as alumni outreach, fundraising, etc...even though he was fired, he has actually been very positive about VT and the fan base and said their family would do well in Blacksburg.
- VT has spoken with other coaches just in case, they had discussions with Fleck, Diaz and Chesney
- VT reached out to Sumrall but our people in the know said that him and Auburn have been set for weeks
- Little Beams is not or has not really been under consideration from what i can tell
- Bud did push for VT to talk to Stoops from Kentucky but not sure it ever happened
As a VT fan, I am pumped, and mainly because Franklin is not coming to VT unless we truly upped our game on salary, staff, etc. Our AD has too long ignored football and what is needed in today's world.
Franklin will at least stop some of the bleeding of players leaving for other programs. We have two good recruiters on current staff. So that will change. VT will never be top 15 recruiting but if he gets us back in the 15-25 range, that is more than enough to win the ACC.
And if Frankling gets us back in the ACC Champ game and moves on to another bigger program, good on him. Oh, he cannot win the big game, well not to many people win against Ohio St and Michigan. I just want VT to play games again that matter and not worry if we will lose to ODU again :banghead: It has been a long decade of underachievement.

Crap vs Crap in the FSU VT game....missed fgs by each team, and FSU makes a FG after 2 almost catches for TDs... 3-0

re: Is The Democrat For VA AG Who Said He Wants Republicans & Their Kids Killed Going To Win?

I think Miyares wins and Dems win Gov and Lt Gov.
That being said, I have been voting here for way too many years and this morning for the 1st time, I saw two voters turned away by the polling officer.
When they got up to be confirmed, the lady asked them where their mail in ballot was, and stated they could go home and bring it in to have it counted. They were not given the voting sheet.
So at least VA for once is making sure there is not double dipping.

As a VT fan, I will not believe it until it is signed.
I am all on board for JF being the coach. All the people saying he does not win big games, I just want to win again and worry about the championships later.
Our last two coaches have lost to ODU I think 3 times, Liberty, ...no Power 4 outside of the ACC schools in I think since WVU back in 2017 or 18. We have lost to Purdue, WVU twice (Neal Brown WVU), etc..
Brent Pry was terrible. Philip Montgomery who is the interim and has coached 5 games is 3-2 (not exactly) a murders row with lots of opt outs, our best Safety, best CB, DE, etc... He has won more 1 score games at VT than Pry did during his whole tenure.
Anyways, I am ready to be let down.

I ask because I have no idea, but how is Michael Vick doing at whatever school he is coaching?
He is struggling and has already replaced coaches.
THat being said, in a few years it could be his gig. He has been brought to SW Va a few times in the past couple years to "play golf" with big money spenders. Said, if you really want the head whistle, you have to proved you can do it.

Brian Kelly could be a good cultural fit at Va Tech.
Stop...LSU is my second favorite team...ie my escape from VT football usually but the BK era cannot end here soon enough at LSU. Only way it could be worse was to be at VT.

Brent Pry was fired after 3 games this year....great man, great at everything for VT except coaching :(
Va Tech administration is committed to spend near the top of the ACC (Clemson, FSU, and UNC)...willing to spend to get the right coach in hopes that they return to relevance before the next P2 shakeup
Anyways, names I have heard and our message boards discuss
James Franklin - easy, we would take him in a heartbeat. He knows the area from stealing recruits from VA while at Penn St and MD. The question is does Franklin have any interest in VT?
Dan Mullen - supposedly informal talks have been held, and he was interested in 2021.
Shane Beamer - the shadow of Frank is long there, but there is still a very vocal group of the $$$$ group....USC probably would like for us to pay his exit, but personally I hope not
Bob Chesney - JMU football coach, has won everywhere. Everything points at Cignetti, but lots of JMU coaches could not make the transition
Golesh - I like him, but think he goes bigger
Sumrall - for some reason, our insiders says we reached out and he politely declined but feels like he is Auburn (yes, Auburn) to lose
Silverfield - I like him, but not sure we can do the take the Memphis coach again route
Fisher - Jimbo reached out, he interviewed for WVU last year...does he get another shot. Personally do not see it.
Manny Diaz - VT supposedly reached out and is willingly to talk...not exciting but much better than what we have had recently. I like him, but some point at his struggles at Miami. Miami is Miami, does not concern me.
Lastly...Mark Stoops...there are actually two people on the committee (one being Bud Foster) who really likes him. I would melt down and give up tickets. Kentucky would be so happy for us to take him off their hands.
My prediction, is Franklin or it will be someone not on the list above that will be a surprise...

Have already used Indy so rolling with the Bengals and it does not feel good.
quote:
Didn't Franklin have a clause where he has to pursue a new job and if he's hired, PSU just has to pay the difference in salary?
If any school matches his salary for PSU, then PSU owes him 18 million.
If a school pays him say 7.5 million then PSU would pay approx 1 million a year plus the 18 million. But you have to think Franklin will get at least his old salary.
So PSUs buyout really was 18 million. NOt great but so much better than what most schools put in contracts without offsets.
NHL - Sabres have to be up there...so close a couple times and now they are on a long long non playoff streak. Great fans. Great city.

One of the bigger travesties in sports was when Washington changed its names from the Bullets to the Wizards. At the time, I roomed with a couple guys and one worked for the local sports station and he got a call like 2 days before it was announced they changed to Wizards. I stopped really caring then.
I mean i used to go to the Cap Centre and watch those losers but they used to always have characters. And with the Wiz it has been a nightmare. But there is hope.

re: Rank the Open CFB Coaching Jobs
Posted by tccdc on 10/22/25 at 11:35 am to boston vol
I think the hard part about these type of rankings is that different pools for coaches..
Florida and Penn St...pretty well a destination job (only a few schools above them)
Vt and Ok St - stepping stone jobs these days...you take these jobs to kick butt and then get your dream job at a place like the above or LSU, ND, etc..
Arkansas - the chances of winning the NC is nearly impossible these days with the conference and the competition. You are walking out the gate every year with 3-4 losses. Can you sustain that to go somewhere bigger
UCLA - frankly considering they give money to other schools from their Big 10 allotment, it is a weird situation. How commited are they to footbal? IN this day and age, it is about money. You can bring in the best coach and loves LA but NIL wise the kid may go down the street to USC or Oregon, etc
Stanford - as you all said, great great school...but not using the portal in this day and age will be tough
Oregon St - poor Beavers...I would like to have a discussion on where you would rank this job in the new Pac 12. Is is it up top? Behind Boise St, San Diego St, etc?
