I think its weird that you would send your kid to any Catholic school after all the scandals.

Seems like this would be very easy to prove. Is it not public record?

alleges that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy, who took Oher into their home as a high school student, never adopted him.

Well the dumb arse never changed his last name to Tuohy, so I feel like part of this allegation is bullshite.

the book came out after his freshman year at Ole Miss and they immediately began negotiating a movie deal.

the Movie came out the same year he was drafted.
Meant the rights deal, script, casting, filming, production, etc. etc. all had to have started while he was still playing for Ole Miss.

If the family had his best interests at heart, they would have had their lawyer set aside residuals for Michael Oher which could be accessed upon the conclusion of his amateur status.

I can't believe there was anything shady about this whole situation. Especially with that paragon of virtue Hugh Freeze being the high school coach that helped orchestrate it.

Oh.

See I find it weird that people would want to send their kids to a school that asks kids their pronouns.

Or that have only boys in them and no co-Ed.

Also, they didn't shop the movie. The best selling book came first and was written by Michael Lewis who was a high school classmate and teammate of Sean Tuohy at Isidore Newman in New Orleans. He had already written Liars Poker and it was being considered for a movie before he even wrote Blind Side.

Again, the facts are a rich white family brought Oher into their home after their son got to know him at school. Even with advantage of hindsight, you have to be hugely cynical to look at it and say they did this to take advantage of the kid in some way. They may have later, but even that is a stretch. You would have to believe some guy who sold a company for hundreds of millions of dollars, and who still owns a dozen fast food restaurants, is going to risk his reputation over screwing over a kid he took in off the street over a couple of million?

Apparently Oher moved in with the Touhy's in 2004. In 2006, a book was released. I've never written a book, but I assume it takes multiple months from when it's technically written, to the process of revision, and eventually publishing.

At the least, less than 2 years after allowing Oher to move in, a book is already published about the story.

That just sounds very opportunistic to me. Personally, if I adopted a kid, writing a book wouldn't even be one of the first things on my mind. I'm not saying they are evil. I do believe they did a great thing in taking Michael into their home, feeding him, clothing him, providing him tutoring, etc. That is a great thing.

Do they still take Michael in if he was just a regular kid without great football talent? Who knows.

This is a very weird story.

I’m not sure how any of this could have happened, or why it took so long to come to light. Like is he part of their family now or not?

I’m sure. But signing him into a conservatorship isn’t a good look for them no matter how stupid Michael is.

Well, they took him into their house the same year a hugely successful writer that they knew personally just sold movie rights to a sports themed book.

They took him in originally to help Hugh Freeze and eventually Ole Miss. Then they either realized or were made aware that the opportunity was much bigger than just that.

Nick Saban was in the film. I am sure this is all his fault.

The real son, SJ, was on a barstool podcast and said he has texts that go years back where Oher is trying to shake them down for $. If you give me X, I won’t go public with whatever he thinks will hurt them.
