Is there not a statute of limitations for a movie that came out like 12 years ago?
You think the Beatles aren't earning money for rights to their music anymore?

Sure if I improperly started profiting off the Beetles tomorrow I’d obviously be subject to a lawsuit
But if I did 15 years ago and 99.99% of the profit came 10+ years ago, is that fair game?
My understanding is that the time period begins to run when you knew or should have known. But as posted here, he knew about to fake adoption as far back as 2011. He also knew whether or not he got royalties from the movie around the time of its release

Not to be that Ackchyually guy, but in this case, wouldn't the Beatles be Sandra Bullock? Speaking of which, maybe she can help out Oher. After salary and royalties, she has pocketed a reported $20M off the movie.

That’s just not true. It was about THEM.

While the deal allowed the Tuohys to profit from the film, the petition alleges, a separate 2007 contract purportedly signed by Oher appears to "give away" to 20th Century Fox Studios the life rights to his story "without any payment whatsoever." The filing says Oher has no recollection of signing that contract, and even if he did, no one explained its implications to him.
Another angle here. In 2007 the NCAA would have brought the hammer down on him if he had accepted any money for signing away the rights to his story.

Sure, but story about them was centered around the use of Oher's name, image and likeness... something that he has no ownership of.

I scanned through this entire thread. I haven't seen one person bring up that they already investigated whether he had been swayed to Ole Miss by his adopted family.
Wouldn't the NCAA have made sure he was adopted as part of that investigation? I would think that would have been a baseline to the investigation in the first place.
I'll just say this seems fishy

Wasn't he 18 when he signed the LOI? If you're 18 and your parents want you to go somewhere else the NCAA accepts where the 18 year old signed for, at that point parental wishes and desires do not matter.

Then what did they investigate?
This all just sounds strange

NIL was illegal back then. The original contract for the book/film probably couldn't include any money for him or he would have been ineligible?
They probably should have shared with him later but maybe he became an ungrateful shithead so they said frick it!
No good deed goes unpunished.

He was drafted into the NFL before the movie came out.

Feel like you jumped quite a few steps to a weird arse conclusion.

I'm taking his side. I can imagine a family of Ole Miss fans living in Memphis would do this to him.
