Dude this is all about parents and coaches wanting to get their kids on National TV and ESPN is encouraging to get the best possible product for TV.
LL at this level is not just a bunch of neighborhood kids that got together to play. All these teams pull from a considerable area utilizing the eligibility rules to the extent possible to craft a “super team” to try to get on TV. As mentioned, the vast majority of these teams have been playing open baseball throwing from 50’ or 54’ for two years and switch back to 46’ just for this chance. Outside of LL, you get very little participation of 11/12 year olds in 46/60 closed baseball. The only reason they play LL is for a shot to play on national TV. ESPN loves it bc they get to show post pubescent 12 yr olds throwing gas at 46’ and hitting bombs out of a 220’ park. Move the mound to 50’ and fence to 240 and the whole dynamic changes.

LL baseball is not listing a game today on their website. Looks like they are telling that judge to stick it. There are also conflicting reports that the Texas team has already returned home.
EDIT: Now, there IS a game listed for tonight. You can bet your arse LL has told the umpires assigned to make sure Texas team wins.

Yeah, I just saw that updated. You can bet LL is hoping Texas wins, even to the point that umpiring may be really slanted tonight.

I don't really understand how a judge can step in and prevent LL from enforcing the rules that everyone agreed to abide by.

It sucks for the kids here, but at this point and with how they have gone about fighting it, I think LL has to rescind their charter once all is said and done. Softball last year and this year, and now baseball. This league has shown nothing but a willingness to bend the rules in anyway they can to suit themselves and feed their egos. It sucks that the kids are the ones to suffer because the adults have no ethics.

yea I dont get it, its almost like judges feel like they can tell any private entity what to do

I will say this particular case does piss me off more than most with some of the information drops done informally. Anyone who abuses a program for special needs kids is beyond disgusting.

Probably because it feels more like a Sorsby situation than other eligibility challenges. Here, my appreciation was the OK team was essentially disqualified for breaking league rules...similar to Sorsby who was initially eligible to play before breaking rules. That's unlike guys like Pavia and Chambliss who were out of eligibility but petitioned for more.
While both may be distasteful, in general people find someone who was punished for breaking a rule yet took efforts to avoid accountability for their actions to be more egregious. That's why you saw the near universal backlash against Sorsby/Texas Tech.
If it turns out the OK gets got a raw deal and were improperly disqualified, that's one thing. But given another team from the same city/league/district was accused of similar behavior, it seems a "coincidence" is unlikely

What's to stop a judge from stopping that as well? We've jumped the shark.

If I read it right, 3 different teams complained right? Why not have all 3 teams plus their competition from Texas tonight file a legal motion?

The adults from Tulsa National are who is to blame. Judging by all of their recent issues it seems systemic. It absolutely sucks for the kids, but the adults who put them in this situation are the ones to blame.
