TEXAS COURT STEPS IN: TULSA REINSTATED TO SOUTHWEST REGION TITLE GAME

WACO, Texas — The most turbulent Little League regional tournament of 2026 has taken another extraordinary turn.

Hours after Boerne Little League defeated Ascension Little League 4-1 and celebrated the Southwest Region championship, a Texas judge granted a temporary restraining order following Tulsa National Little League’s removal from the tournament.

Judge Ryan Luna of Texas’ 414th District Court granted the order sought by Tulsa National players and parents with the league’s support, according to a statement released by representatives supporting the Oklahoma team.

The order calls for Tulsa National and Boerne to play Tuesday, August 11, at 6 p.m. CT in Waco. The winner would represent the Southwest Region at the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport.

“The winner of the game will be determined on the field where it should be decided,” Tulsa National’s statement said.

The development means Boerne’s celebration Monday afternoon did not settle the Southwest berth.

Little League International announced Monday morning that its International Tournament Committee had determined that a player who participated for Tulsa National during the International Tournament was ineligible.

The committee removed Tulsa National from the Southwest Region Tournament, declared its previous game a forfeit and described its decision as “final and binding.”

That ruling immediately changed the bracket. Boerne and Ascension Parish had been scheduled to meet in an elimination game, with the winner advancing to face Tulsa National for the championship. Little League instead redesignated Boerne–Ascension Parish as a one-game regional final.

Boerne won 4-1, celebrated on the field and was introduced during the broadcast as the Southwest representative headed to Williamsport.

The court order arrived later Monday.

Under the reported order, Tulsa National receives another opportunity to compete despite Little League’s eligibility ruling. Boerne must return to the field one day after playing and celebrating what it had been told was the regional championship.

Texas West now faces the possibility of having to win another title game to secure the same Williamsport berth it believed it had already earned. Tulsa National returns after its players spent several hours believing their season had ended through an administrative decision.

The situation places both groups of children in an extraordinarily difficult position created entirely away from the field.

Little League said only that one player who participated for Tulsa National during the International Tournament was determined to be ineligible. Its public statement did not name the child or explain the specific basis for that determination.

A broader protest reportedly was submitted by three leagues participating in the Southwest tournament. Published reports said the complaint raised multiple questions concerning league operations and player eligibility, but Little League announced a finding only regarding one ineligible player. The other reported allegations have not been established publicly as findings by Little League.

The baseball dispute follows a separate eligibility case involving Tulsa National’s softball program. In July, Little League removed Tulsa National’s softball team from its Southwest Region Tournament after determining that adult volunteers and parents had not supplied sufficient documentation verifying the eligibility of every player through school enrollment or residence within the league’s official boundaries.

The baseball and softball cases are separate proceedings, although both initially resulted in Tulsa National teams being removed from regional competition.

The immediate competitive consequences of Monday’s court order are substantial.

Boerne used Kase Yarbrough and Joshua Cude to cover all six innings against Ascension Parish. Pitch-count and mandatory-rest requirements could affect their availability Tuesday. Texas West also must recover emotionally after completing a championship celebration and then learning that its World Series berth was no longer secure.

Tulsa National must regain its competitive focus after experiencing removal and reinstatement on the same day.

Questions also remain regarding Little League International’s response, its authority over the International Tournament and the practical enforcement of the Texas court’s order.

Until those matters are resolved—or Tuesday’s proposed game is completed—the Southwest representative in Williamsport cannot be considered settled.

How did the DYB All Star team do?

Still no official word from Little League.

Either the player was eligible or ineligible.

This all should be pretty cut and dry and not require a court order. Eligibility should be able to be established with relative ease.

The 11 y/o Gonzales DYB team made it to the DYB World Series in Montgomery. They finished runner up. They were coached by Shane Aderholt, who took an AP team to the Intermediate Little League World Series in California a few years ago.

I don’t think Little League even existed in Louisiana in the 90s. I played rec along with everyone else in the early 90s and the best leagues around here were Dixie, Babe Ruth and Pony. I remember watching the Little League World Series as a kid but only the championship was televised. I often wondered how our all star teams would’ve compared. ESPN really started to cover it in the 2000s and the first Louisiana based team to make it was Lake Charles. Then Eastbank won it all in 2019 and it exploded and became a thing in South Louisiana. What is considered Travel ball today was just a weekend team we had in the 90s. Everything revolved around making the local all star team. I’m all for Little League as it’s win or go home like when I played as a kid unlike travel ball where you can spend ridiculous money to go take an arse whipping across the country for the “experience.”

Maybe that team should try and keep all of the good players, rather than have some end up in DYB….

A majority of the 11 y/o DYB team would be too old to play 12 y/o Little League next year. The age cutoff dates are different for DYB and LL.
