Who exactly is pushing this?
Usually it’s the opposite… pushing kids to focus on showcase ball instead of HS
mom groups in a couple states, they are all over social media. Texas actually had something proposed in state legislature and it got shot down before even making it anywhere but more and more calls for it all over social media

Even in the best tournaments these days it’s pay for play, so the best teams only play each other once or twice over a weekend and the rest of the time they’re standing around like they would be in rec ball because the other teams are terrible.

Somewhat. Coaches are really focused on showcases these days more so than they are tournaments. Our local high school just hosted a big one and only a handful of kids that were chosen for JV from 8th grade played travel ball. Their parents prioritized individual training sessions and the occasional tournament. Less than three a year.
i can tell you at the big louisiana schools like WM, Barbe, SH, Catholic, the AP schools, TC, STM etc....you have to be doing travel and individual training.
same with the big Houston area schools. playing just travel ball, no matter the level, unless you are crazy talented is not enough. not even close and the push for physicality already when coming into HS has changed too where you are expected to already have had a lot of time in the weight room under your belt already.

not at the invite only tournaments its not. in HS some of the insanely huge tournaments can be but most of the time its not close to like that at the prestigious ones.
but even in youth in the the majors divisions in the big tournaments like beast of the east/best of the west, wwba, pbr youth cup, houston 1000, team usa team championships, elite in hoover, PBR NC, its not like that at all.
majors teams 98% are not pay for play, not even close
sure AA and lower level AAA...can be depending on the org. but majors

Thankfully I don’t seem to follow those groups lol
Cause that is idiotic

AP coach just made a bonehead call. That run doesn't matter, the guy at the plate does.

i dont either. started popping up for me on tictok and instagram
essentially they want kids to make a choice between travel and HS ball just like the other guy wants people to choose between travel and rec
what will happen is any kid that has any desire to play in college, so all the good kids, will just play travel hurting the quality of play and essentially before middle school starts you will have ruled yourself out from ever playing college baseball
so essentially making the choice at 8-10 which is fricking retarded
would kill the quality of play too, to the point that HS would be the new rec and struggle to survive. Just a dumb way to think about things but you know how Karens are....they only care about thier kid, frick everyone else

It’s comical at this point.

This part I agree with.
In NC travel ball is becoming less prioritized for a variety of reasons. Most notably because coaches are infinitely more advanced and specialized themselves. They’re looking for specific traits and skill sets and can identify them without the need for endless tournaments.

So the OK team is disqualified
Posted on 8/10/26 at 5:17 pm to ConnectTheDots
8 of the players play for Ascension Select
3 for the LA Bulls
1 for the Saints
7 live in Ascension
1 lives in assumption
1 lives in EBR
1 lives in st James
2 live in Livingston parish
The AP league has a major division and minor. Major allstars go to Williamsport and minors has the diamond league for their allstars. To play in the major division, you must play travel ball and try out for the league.

AP has the luxury of pulling from the entire BR metro area. DYB used travel kids this year which another poster had stated.

there is already a movement by dumbass karens trying to get travel kids banned from playing HS Baseball,
I love Louisiana because, while at times we might seem backwards, this wokeness has less than 0 chance here
I hope

Hearing a judge has issued a restraining order and OK is back in?

Before Travel ball ruled the world, the high level kids all played rec ball, we’re talking till the late 90s. There was a separation for a brief period but once ESPN started covering Little League heavily to where you could get on tv even in regionals, all of the travel kids came back. And who can blame them? The average person isn’t watching the Perfect Game Super NIT on youtube. Would this thread exist if it wasn’t for a local team advancing to Williamsport with the help of travel ball kids?
I wasn’t exceptional by any means, but I was 3 year starter for my high school, and I literally don’t know anyone who played Little League as it’s currently constructed. to the point that it feels somewhat alien. we all played local rec ball with a little “travel” ball thrown in here or there.
born in 91, played in a major Texas city. this is all incredibly confusing

A judge gave a court order to allow Oklahoma to remain in the regionals and play game as scheduled tomorrow. Boerne threw its top two arms thinking this was last game. What a nightmare.

I don’t think Little League even existed in Louisiana in the 90s. I played rec along with everyone else in the early 90s and the best leagues around here were Dixie, Babe Ruth and Pony. I remember watching the Little League World Series as a kid but only the championship was televised. I often wondered how our all star teams would’ve compared. ESPN really started to cover it in the 2000s and the first Louisiana based team to make it was Lake Charles. Then Eastbank won it all in 2019 and it exploded and became a thing in South Louisiana. What is considered Travel ball today was just a weekend team we had in the 90s. Everything revolved around making the local all star team. I’m all for Little League as it’s win or go home like when I played as a kid unlike travel ball where you can spend ridiculous money to go take an arse whipping across the country for the “experience.”

Trying to follow this thread and have no idea what’s going on because of all the side bars about youth baseball. Who won the game Sunday and who is Oklahoma playing?

Is “Must play travel ball” a new requirement or specific to that age group? I know of boys that didn’t play travel ball but played majors and all stars last season but it was a younger division
Also from what I understood home address in ascension was a requirement.
