I don't even know what to say anymore. What a mockery.

This is significantly more egregious than anything Kiffin, Golding, or anyone else has done.

This needs to be the case that pushes the pendulum back the other direction. Embarrassing for Texas tech.

I still don't understand how this works in practice. Ok, a judge says you can play football and make your NIL money, I get that, but what prevents the NCAA from just invalidating any game he plays in?

This will be quickly appealed and he will not play. He is not going to play in the NCAA ever again.

This is the worst of the worst. We all joked they would find a favorable judge to get the ruling they wanted, but I didn't think it would actually happen in this case.

Yep.

Betting on the sport has been a DQ offense for the NCAA for years.

Betting ON YOUR OWN TEAM thousands of times shouldn’t allow you to claim Americans with Disabilities Act for compulsive gambling.

Surprised this dude is pushing it this hard. I guess maybe he figured the NFL is toast already.

All sports are dead. How will any league be able to enforce their rules against gambling.

Venue shopping is very obvious. However, the NCAA can appeal this, right?

I believe it would go to an appellate court that isn’t literally a few miles from the Texas Texh campus.

I think the NCAA is much more likely to go after this that the Chambliss decision.

I don’t remember the details about the Alabama center who came back after playing pro basketball and was then ruled ineligible for good a few days later, but I think that’s how that went down as well.

How much did they pay that judge?

Betting on your own team is good to go now?

Pathetic and absolutely unacceptable that local judges who are almost certainly biased, can make these rulings. So at this point I assume a player could walk onto the field and hand a referee a wad of cash and that would be fine once a local judge approved it.

So basically you can bet on your team as long as you’re not actively playing? Like what’s to stop a player who’s injured for a week to bet on their team.

Yes, but...

How is this any different then when Auburn bought Cam Newton before it was legal? Or when any other schools paid a player under the table? Now that it's all legal, schools with money to spend will spend it.

I’m very pro NIL and think the players should be compensated for being a part of a billion dollar industry

But this is absolutely embarrassing and the judge should be disbarred. Complete lack of legal basis because he’s a fan of a football team. Truly a disgrace.
