Any of you get any good ones Sunday night? Lol

My sister-in-law asked “What does SEC stand for?”

She then asked “Is USC in the SEC?”

A few moments later she asked “why are we playing USC if they’re not in the SEC?”

Any of y’all hear any good ones?

I don't understand why those are dumb questions.

Expecting someone, who clearly doesn't follow the sport, to know those answers seems odd.

Because it’s comical when someone watches a sport with their family and friends for years and then is still pretty clueless about the mechanics of the sport, the way it’s set up, the rules, etc.

My mom is the best example of this. She had sons play football for 30 years, and she’s been watching football on TV with my dad for like 50 years. Yet, she still doesn’t know a lick of football and asked the other day if punting is worth points.

My SIL is not to that extreme, but it’s still funny. Lol

I expected much more along the lines of what’s a first down or why are they kicking the ball not who is usc and what conference are they in

After giving up a TD to Vandy in the first possession of OT and getting down to 4th down, my aunt asked if I thought VT would go for it.

Later in the day she saw the Bama score (0-63) and said "Oh...wait...maybe thats basketball"

But of these got hot blinking stares from me

Fiance knows football well, so no issue there, but guys sometimes ask the worst questions. My favorite was "why don't they just hit the WRs before the ball gets there?" And argued with me when I said outside of like a yard off the line of scrimmage it's not legal

With today's CFB, that's not as dumb a question as it once was.

I would rather all these than have the know it all person who tries to comment on everything and is completely off. My sister is one of these people and it drives me crazy. You would swear she was John Madden when watching football.

Would you rather her think it means something else and says what she thinks it means and look stupid?

She is asking you because she doesn't know what it means....she is is trying to learn....

When I was married my wife would ask 'dumb questions ' because she wanted to learn stuff.

Once again, the main reason it’s kind of comical is that this is definitely not the first time she has watched a football game. She’s been watching this stuff for years and never picked up on any of this.

I will agree that there are some worse questions that someone can ask.

Why are you gatekeeping on college football fandom? If my kids or my wife were to show any level of interest in my favorite sports then I would be ecstatic.

i've been an AVID follower of the sport since I was in diapers and even I don't fully remember what temas are now in which conference. Unless she watches sports shows or follows football message boards I don't think not knowing what confernece USC is in is all that laughable.

Yeah. Only idiots don’t know that USC is in the PAC 10 with the 11 other teams. It’s so obvious.

Tailgating with a cute little coed in a large party, watched a half of the game of the week. Numerous times, in measuring for a first down, the screen showed the yellow line. Post game, she was seriously confused why she couldn't see the yellow line on the field. Boyfriend just turned & walked away.
