They don’t fill their tiny on campus stadium and you think they should move to an NFL stadium?

Only if they are a top 10 team in football.

but Nissan Stadium and the Stadium in Charlotte look like the most bland/basic stadiums I’ve ever seen.

Nissan stadium definitely looks like a shitty stadium, Bank of America architecturally looks nice and not shitty.

As a season ticket holder, I can attest that stadium sucks. But my goodness the hotel tax is going to price a lot of people out of hotel stays. I bet there will $1,000+ nights in downtown on game weekends after construction is complete.

We are adding something like 36,000 new hotel rooms in the next 5 years. The market will even out a bit but it’s always going to be expensive.

In to be the first to post about the SECCG moving to Nashville

Looks like divisions will probably go away along with the championship game or at least become highly irrelevant with a 12 team playoff.

CFB playoffs and championship game is the real payoff.

Nobody likes flying into NOLA. That's reason #1.

It's extremely easy to do so & that isn't a viable reason.

Only a matter of time before Nashville Downtown goes to shite. It happens everywhere a major city becomes popular to degenerates

I went to a game there a long time ago. It rained like a motherfricker most of the game. But the atmosphere was undoubtedly much better than it would have been inside a shitty dome.

Lots of butthurt in this thread and folks who have no idea what they’re talking about.

Nissan needs to go. The entire east bank has been bought up for development and it’s ripe. Regardless of a super bowl the stadium will attract major events like the final four, new playoff game, more stadium concerts (which Nissan does quite a few), international soccer games. FIFA basically told the city they passed over Nashville because Nissan was the issue. For those who don’t know Nashville is a huge soccer city. It was a huge blow to the city’s pride.

A new stadium will connect the new east bank oracle project/Dickerson with downtown and create an entire new neighborhood. I’ve had the honor of being able to see the master plans a year ago before anything was announced. It’s going to help make Nashville feel like a real world class city.

I’m not sure what the East bank is, only Da Westbank / Bestbank.

Can you share this redevelopment plan?

Another major wave of new stadiums is upon us. Dallas, LA, Minnesota and Vegas changed the stadium game to a new level and many franchises are realizing just how crappy their "new" stadiums of the last 20 years truly are...looking at you Cleveland, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh!! Open air cold weather stadiums will become a thing of the past. Cities and owners aren't going to spend that kind of money unless the stadium can be used for FAR more events other than football. These newest domed stadiums are INCREDIBLE!! Nashville getting a billion dollar state of the art stadium is going to be amazing for the city and franchise. Listen, in a perfect world, we all want games to be played in the elements, but its just not sound economically any longer. The high tech retractable roof/domed stadium era is upon us!! Cleveland will be next....

Side note, it cost $31.6mm to build the original Astro Dome...the 7th Wonder of the World.

Big Ten Championship game at SoFi Stadium has potential, but attendance would depend on USC or UCLA being in the game.

Superdome and Lambeau Field are still going strong. Apparently they don't make them like they used to.

The Superdome is a POS. I love the Saints, but I hate the Dome, the slow service, the over priced everything, and the long waits for amenities.

Indianapolis and Minneapolis both have roofed stadiums, so I didn't think it would be that burdensome. Whereas NY/NJ doesn't.

The ONLY reason MetLife got a Super Bowl with a new outdoor stadium was because it was the New York metro area. Gillette in New England didn't get one, neither did Cleveland, Philly, Seattle, Denver or Cincinnati when they built new outdoor stadiums.

Again, though they have domed stadiums, Minneapolis and Indianapolis in early February are NOT destination cities for a Super Bowl. They got their one Super Bowl as a reward for building a new stadium; they are now done.

Also, why would Vanderbilt use it? They’ve got an on campus stadium.

This is dumb. What more does Vanderbilt need than the perfectly fine ON CAMPUS stadium they have? How's it "a joke"?

He’s right you know. Nashville has a lot of cool historical shite, world class restaurants, and Mardi Gras.

I can't find comparative data but what I can find is that NOLA averages about 5 million more visitors per year than Nashville depending on the source.

Lol mmmkay. Gotta love the head in the sand Nola bros that think their “food scene” is world class and it’s not just stale, repetitive menus cooked by mostly alcoholic slobs who still think it’s 1989.
