re: Which former San Diego franchise that now resides in Los Angeles is a bigger afterthought? - Buckeye Backer
It’s pretty sad actually. The Chargers have no fans in LA. They should either be back in San Diego or San Antonio. They have a franchise QB and still can’t generate any buzz in LA. Don’t know the long term success in LA. ...

re: what (metro) areas of the united states are truly headed in a good, sustainable direction? - Buckeye Backer
Columbus, OH Fastest growing city in the entire North/Northeast/Midwest for the last decade. Insurance capital of the world. Fashion capital of the world. State Capital. Ohio State anchors the city. Columbus is poised to gain another 500,000 people to the metro by 2030. ...

re: Dennis Dodd: AAC Targeting Mountain West Conference, UAB for expansion - Buckeye Backer
he only solution to this mess is a Conference USA-Sun Belt merger. Egos will have to be put to the side and the best of C-USA and Sun Belt have to come together.
Agree...at some point, these G5 conferences have to understand what's going on and how the greater good survives. Merger...

re: Dennis Dodd: AAC Targeting Mountain West Conference, UAB for expansion - Buckeye Backer
I could absolutely see adding UAB as that is a program that just built a brand new stadium and is investing in its program. Before Cincinnati, UCF and Houston announced they were leaving for the Big 12, it also made sense to add Boise St, Colorado St and SDSU...but not now. They are better off try...

re: Luke Fickell Top Target For USC - Buckeye Backer
I know USC is a destination job, but Fickell has something going really nice at Cincinnati, plus the Bearcats are set to join the Big 12 and P5 soon, i will be curious to see if Cincinnati counters with a pay raise for him and he stays at Cincinnati. USC is tough to turn down though. ...

re: What's the point of having a closed roof stadium in Los Angeles - Buckeye Backer
It's not a closed roof stadium. Its technically an open air stadium. The temperature is still natural air, but the fans are protected by the roof. It's a great design. ...

re: NFL Various Games - Week 1 - Buckeye Backer
Joe Woods as Browns defensive coordinator is awful. Different players, same results. It’s not the players, it’s the scheme. Browns are stuck right where they’re at with Woods as DC. ...

re: Big 12 Votes to Unanimously Accept Cincinnati, UCF, BYU and Houston - Buckeye Backer
As a fan of a team (Wisconsin) that recruits Ohio kids that OSU doesn’t want, the chance to play AGAINST OSU often seems to be a factor in staying in the Big Ten as does getting to play all the other teams they grew up watching. Not sure those types will be all that jazzed about playing Te...
Damn, one of Dewine's balls must have fallen.
DeWine has become very unpopular with Ohio Conservatives and Trump supporters. His tyranny from last year wont be forgotten. His power was cut by the Ohio GOP. He has tried to show he is a Republican again lately. This is what that i...

re: Sun Belt Conference Expansion? - Buckeye Backer
FAU and UAB don't. Marshall, Tech, and Southern Miss do.
And so are you...FAU and UAB both have new stadiums with UAB having a brand spanking new stadium. This is what the SBC needs. Quality programs with access to talent and good facilities. ...
As stated in the thread already about this topic, it's unlikely that FAU would be invited back to the conference they already spurned for seemingly greener pastures. FAU doesn't really fit the model anyway. ETA: Neither does UAB. Southern Miss would be a more appropriate target.
...
Does this open a window for the Cajuns to get into the AAC?
I think this really really hurts the AAC. Without Cincinnati. Houston and UCF, this conference will lose all the equity its built up. I think the SBC can become the premier conference if it decides to expand and add a fe...

re: Big 12 Votes to Unanimously Accept Cincinnati, UCF, BYU and Houston - Buckeye Backer
I seriously think people are underestimating this move. Over time, these schools could become powers in the Big 12. Now kids in Ohio who grow up Ohio St fans, but don't get recruited by Ohio St, don't have to leave the state of Ohio and go to Michigan, Michigan St or Penn St to play P5 football. ...

re: are we stuck in some weird situation where the Big 12 retains an auto Sugar Bowl bid... - Buckeye Backer
I just simply dont understand this way of thinking? Cincinnati and UCF are consistent Top 25 programs that come from states with tons of high school talent. Now that they are joining a P5 conference, many kids from Ohio and Florida (especially Ohio), wont have to leave the state to go play at a P5...
