President ?Donald Trump ?said on Wednesday that ?he would issue a $5,000 dividend ?to every adult ?in the United ?States if ?Republicans maintain control of Congress in November's ?election.

"If the Republicans win the House of Representatives and ?the United States Senate, both ?of them ... ?because of ?our tremendous ?strength and success economically, I ?will issue ?a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of ?America for $5,000," Trump said at a Republican ?convention in Dallas.

"The only caveat I have is that the dividend that we're making must be spent in the United States of America," he ?added.

Didn't even know what the was until I googled it.

Why am I not surprised you know the name of a gay club right off the top of the dome? At least you're not hiding it any more.

Care to talk about the issue at hand? Tell us how this is a good thing.

Or, is it another broken promise? It's hard to keep up because every time his mouth is open, it's to tell a lie.

Is this going to come from the budget surplus?

Dislike this level of deliberate pandering especially after extreme government debt levels. Can’t see how this would help tame inflation

Sounds like the president is trying to buy an election. It's also very socialist of him. As is the US government taking ownership of private companies, which his administration has now done a few times.

Crazy that Trump has done more to advance socialism in America in the 21st century than any Dem could dream of.

There are approximately 270M adult citizens in the US, that would come out to ~$1.35T. I didn't have "bring back COVID-spending inflation" on my bingo card for this round of politics.

Aside from that, all spending bills must start in the House and pass through Congress before they can be spent. If it were to pass the House (highly unlikely) it would absolutely die in the Senate.

This is terrible but Not entirely surprising for someone that promised to pay Iran $300billion if they give up.

I can’t even believe he uttered the words….
How would he even get the funds? Congress?

So much for fiscal conservative values

When politicians get desperate to win elections, the buying votes promises start coming out.

Trump and the R's are in desperation mode at this point

let’s review

promised $5000 DOGE checks? Zero delivered
promised $2000 tariff refund checks? Zero delivered
promised $1000 Obamacare cut refund checks? Zero delivered
promised $2 gas? $4+ delivered

if this clown is talking, he’s lying
and why wait until after the election? GOP controls both houses of congress, why not do it now? Because it’s a lie

I remember when getting caught in a bold faced lie to the public meant the end of a political career. Now it’s just trump being trump

He's a fricking idiot, and he has somehow snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. There's no way around this.

You've been handed an age defining technology. Not generational. Age or era, meaning every few hundred years. And he's consistently thrown the biggest wet blanket on it imaginable.

End the fricking war, shut the frick up, and let this economy hum.

It's just embarrassing at this point.

It really boggles my mind how so many on the right have been brainwashed by him. What has he done besides talk shite that deserves so much loyalty as to go against the beliefs you've held your entire life? And that's what he's doing to the Republican party.

And he hasn't even been a good president. In fact, he's been a pretty bad president. We saw him sellout to big pharma, we've seen him sellout to the MIC, we've seen him increase the national debt more than any other president. We've seen him use socialist tactics. We've seen the corruption. The list goes on. All he's basically done is talk shite and spread hate and for some, that's more important than actually doing things to "make America great again".

It is good to see more and more on the right start to denounce their support for him, though. Anyways, I digress.
