the republican party is weak precisely because they’ve given up policy and governance to the whims of a degenerate criminal sociopath. I’ll take my chances elsewhere

The Republican party has been weak since long before Trump ever sniffed the WH. In fact, the reason Trump ever sniffed the WH is because rank/file Republicans became achingly soft.
I don’t agree Trump is a degenerate criminal and think it hurts the cause by suggesting he is - makes it too easy to be a sycophant.
Trump is unprincipled. He’d be as comfortable running/presiding as a Dem if it had been a Republican president that publicly made fun of him as he is now as a Republican.

I don’t understand the strategy of gaining strength through surrender. Turn shite over to Dems and all you’re doing is advancing Leftist causes and complicating fixing the Republican Party.
The time to fix Republicans is in the primaries. In the general, it should be about doing everything possible to keep democrats out of Congress and the WH.

I certainly don't blame/credit Trump for this last tick down, but I'm curious to see how things shake out going forward. I've said multiple times that I'm very concerned about Trump re: inflation because I think he's going to spend like a Democrat while using the bully pulpit to try to force interest rates back down. I hope he pleasantly surprises me and only does one out of two. I have zero faith in him managing neither.

And a bit further down:

In response to both replies, but being this one was more thoughtful:
I absolutely have been paying attention (to the former reply), and I agree with you that he’s saying all the right things. However, history has shown that Trump’s attention span leaves much to be desired and that his steadfastness regarding his stated policy positions is… malleable, at best. Trump is much more a populist than an idealist, and when it comes to making actual substantive cuts that are “unpopular”, I don’t think he has the stomach for it. He likes being liked too much.
I’ll say that I have vastly more faith that his administration will cut regulations than I do that it will cut spending in an amount that matters.
And I will be absolute stunned if he doesn’t actively push to reduce interest rates, divorced for any real economic policy reason, just because it will make people like him.
Trump is who he's always been. He's just being louder about it this time around.

Trump is the greatest president ever in the US. This war is the only small mistake he has made ever in office. I wish he could get another 4 years.
It's funny because we might not get the $5,000 check, but he probably convinced a shitload of dumbass Democrats to vote Republican by saying the check would come if the R win the house and senate.
My only hope is that AOC is the Dem candidate for President next year and she runs against Vance. It will be a R house, senate, and White House and we can finally start Making America Great Again.

Guy is the worst "republican" of all time. The party sold out to a con man and we are paying the price. We need to run a moderate the next go around to even have a chance to lure back anyone

Will this be possible for next election? That's a pretty hard U-turn on what all the politicians around him act like. Or is this just going to be another short term memory thing with the public?
Example - JD Vance denounces him (again!) and everyone just seal claps and goes with it? I know they don't have spines but damn that is pretty pathetic.

Seems unlikely.. maybe in the next two years we can find someone outside of the MAGA party. Vance is a non starter at this point as he flipped.
The fact Trump had run off real conservatives like Massie, had a lot of them kissing his arse. We need an outsider

what’s wrong with Massie? He’s got the time on his hands LOL
