Meh. I was completely against him coming back in a high responsibility coaching position without proving himself again. This is actually the perfect set of responsibilities to have him cover.

Do you not understand that LSU fans are the most bandwagon fans around??

People are delusional and ignorant. Thats all I got.

quote:He was bombastically stupid in hiring Brad "Sylvester" Davis. That one move destroyed the Offense for years to come. (And dumb arse Woodward would not let Kelly dump Sylvester's sorry arse, in some kind of ultra weird Libtard BS)
He was bombastic in his final two years as head coach,
It all eventually led to the hiring of Lane Kiffin though

Do you expect him to not take any job that isn’t at LSU? Yes, he likes money and is a fan of whatever school is employing him. Shocker.
You obviously didn’t follow what he did after he exited LSU and how he behaved. You also don’t bleed purple and gold and not work your arse off to not let shite like what happened happen. He is a quitter and as you mentioned a terrible HC.
quote:it’s his staff and he will control it all. He is also accountable for what happens. Considering he is paying peanuts to his buddy seems low risk.
Sounds like you’ve got a problem with how Kiffin is building out his staff.

I remember that thread.
I dv'd it because you started it.

I did. What all are you referring to exactly?

I think this is actually fair and my sentiment exactly. He can do some fundraising - some folks are still down with his schtick, and he can get them to donate. He can meet recruits and maybe help with that some, that was always a strength, even though recruiting is much different now than when he was at his height so not sure how much he really can help there.
Kinda like baseball teams keep old legacy players around as ambassadors - shaking hands and kissing babies. And I think he's married again right? So maybe won't have to worry about him propositioning wives of administrators?

helped give us the greatest college football team of all time.

O has plenty of money. He is set for life. He is 64 years old and can just enjoy what he does best: recruiting and defensive line coaching. Good for O. Good for LSU.

His buyout was 17 mil. His ex-wife was awarded half of that. Taxes take another half almost. I don't think he is as "set for life" as you think.

Blondes, booze and beaches take a financial toll.

A bunch of loud, obnoxious, meathead, south Louisiana goons see a lot of themselves in him and live vicariously through him.
And some appreciate his building the greatest football team in NCAA history. Then it was destroyed by politicians with an agenda.
Too bad the hate of Orgeron blinded some fans who cheered on Woody, Carville, and the Gov while the program was destroyed.

O found him a $100K stepping stone. Football Coaches don’t bleed school colors. He’ll be out of there ASAP

So it's someone else's fault the program failed fairly miserably his last two years - not O's? That does ring of a politics at it's finest. The old finger-pointing and absence of accountability.

Yes, it was definitely this and not a simple regression to what he was for the majority of his career as a head coach.

He achieved the ultimate goal which is to win a national championship. And he is an entertaining character. And he is one of us.
Too bad he imploded at the end.

He gets to come back now and just be good at what he is good at. Being O. Not all of the pressure and agenda of being the boss. Sounds like a great move.
