re: Why the Outpouring of Affection for Ed?

He's being brought in to perform a specific role at which he is good at a fairly minimum price. Even though his HC career at LSU ended poorly from a results standpoint, he didn't leave LSU poorly. He continued to coach despite being "fired" and never spoke poorly of LSU. Yes, that was part the exchange for the buyout. But it is not all that often that coaches get fired yet still speak well of the school that fired him.

Because Louisiana is content with knucklehead, GED, non English speaking coaches, who can screw up a wet dream.

A sun shines on a dog's rear end at least once a day. That was 7 years ago, dude. Lsu hasn't done squat since then. What has he ever done to maintain success, except getting fired at 90% of the places he has been? Had the keys to a Ferrari, and wrecked it. There isn't enough room in the house for 2 coaches that have massive egos. It never ever has worked.

I guess conveniently forgetting his last two years as head coach.
Same as retards who forget what Gov Edwards, Carville, and Woodward did to LSU Sports.
Weird? The top two sports were winning every season. Football was at the top of the NCAA world. Then Woodward was hired. He hired Pellini, and , then fired Orgeron and Wade. The football team ran off a cliff and the basketball was a continuous embarrassment. Just coincidence I'm sure.
Orgeron is coaching for his fifth NCAA Championship Ring. Not bad for a Lucky SOB, "that can't Coach".

O’s post 2019 program was sabotaged.
Divorce was gross. Racial tension crap within the team and bypassing O to go to Fat frick Woodward with Ryan Clark egging on the team and former players to shite on O. O getting crucified for saying “Trump is doing a good job”
Not being able to make his own hires. Losing elite coordinators very late in the season. COVID protocols, Myles Brennan injury, Pelini’s shitty defense.

Ed and Lane go way back….as friends…on each other’s staffs, as rivals….if Lane is comfortable with Ed so be it. Ed can be the Cajun interpreter…..Ed is a good position coach and recruiter. But…..Bum Phillips used to say that “your friends will get you fired”. Guess we will have to see how it plays out. So far so good.

That said, he's being paid like an analyst to help us recruit for 1 year. Whatever.

So everyone's fault but the head coach that we went 6-6 two years in a row,....nothing Ed could have done differently? No accountability for him, it was all the fault of others? Got it.

Taking a 100k salary just to be a part of what Lane is building should just drive that home even more.

Your memory is correct and there is a reason and it's not because he was a victim of circumstances. He was a good defensive line coach at one time - that is a fact.

Have another down vote
Through all his faults, the man delivered arguably the best season in COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY.
And he's a decent guy.

he's been charged with domestic violence, had restraining order(s) issued against him, bar fights, usually if there's that much smoke on the record there have been a few brush fires swept under the rug
