Getting ABS might be possible, but if and when you have a host from a mid major that doesn’t already have Hawkeye or something similar involved it might be a stretch. The NCAA sure isn’t going to drop the money to do it.

Opening it any later seems like a nightmare too from a school perspective… getting kids in school, classes approved and transferred, new housing set up in a month isn’t easy.

Arkansas has been on the cusp for more than a while now. Can they break through?
As much as I think every player deserves to play for a national championship… unfortunately including the mid majors last year made for some very uncompetitive games. They need to figure out how to balance that.
I think every roster can benefit from a command/weird run type guy. Velo is relative now. They all train it and it doesn’t make a giant difference against the best out there. But the guys with some funk find a way to win.
Makes sense. And I guess the SEC money and treatment is maybe better than the minors in some spots.

Losing guys to the draft seems even more problematic at that time
Will this antitrust lawsuit/salary cap actually be enforceable? Seems like that would change everything for teams and the playoffs.

I can see it being hard bc guys are in other campuses with potential deadlines but you would think winning the national championship and a dollar offer would do a big portion of the recruiting for you.
You want your boys to be hot at the right time for sure. He was great that weekend

I think the emphasis on velo happened well before this year. It has become the culture of baseball at all levels. We can complain about guys chasing velo, catchers in a knee down stance, and the portal - but I think it’s here and we might have to figure out how to be okay with it.
You are right. The injunctions are coming!
