re: Why the Outpouring of Affection for Ed?

I down voted any post about hiring him back as HC but as DL coach and recruiter it’s a no brainer. He excels at that and he won’t try to screw Lane. I’m all for it.

I was at a high school football game and saw him after he was fired. He was like a cult hero. His allure reminded me of the way people felt about Edwin Edwards.

I have no affection for Ed.

Exactly. People saying he bleeds purple and gold are either as full of shite as Ed is or just gullible as frick.

He is a piece of shite, and being back with Kiffin is a problem in the making. Kiffin is in no position to fix him or his reputation and is actually very susceptible to sinking to Ed’s level.

Unless our athletic problem is completely walking the straight and narrow path and will therefore give Ed nothing to use against us as leverage to give him more money in the future bringing him back in official capacity at LSU is a problem regardless of who the head coach is.

Thank God I'm not the only one. I thought I was taking crazy pills. Everybody loved us getting O back, but IMO, the man is just a glorified Cajun mascot. I'm not saying he can't help here and there, but I already see people salivating at the mouth to give him unjustified praise if the DL improves greatly and the recruiting improves. Nobody will have any reason to believe he has any effect on those things, but he's the front face that everybody knows.

I'm going to personally give all praise to the position coaches and recruiting coordinators if things improve unless someone directly mentions O as instrumental in something improving.

Because he talks like us, and our retarded fan base eats that shite up.

Some folks never wavered, I still see posts here as recently as a couple of weeks back not understanding why he was fired, I guess conveniently forgetting his last two years as head coach.

Anyway, for the position he was hired for I think he'll be fine and he can talk about gumbo and running young blondes to the donors and maybe help close a recruit or two - I don't see the harm.
