Other than “he knows who the new OC is and he doesn’t like it”, are there any other credible theories?

What kind of OC could be coming in that makes a starting QB transfer?

Does this have something to do with Nuss and his dad?

BK told him he doesn’t do lefties?

Historically…it’s hard to build around them

My guess is:

1. Not super happy with progress and changes since Brady left.

2. Has been in talks with another program and made promises.

3. Was told he would have to compete from scratch for his starting spot.

4. The portal works both ways.

Most likely the kid just wants a fresh start. New coach, 3rd OC (all though 1 and 2 were allegedly trying to run the same offense)

He commuted after 2019 and thought it was going to be like that, and instead he just spent a year getting mauled and shite in by fans (which, hey, he kinda deserves to be)

Sometimes you just want a clean slate.

He's sees better opportunity elsewhere. Best of luck to him, unless he ever takes snaps against LSU.

More likely Kelly told him the starter job was wide open. Plus a transfer was possible

It’s pretty straightforward that this is what’s happening.

He will need shoulder surgery. Torn labrum. He would not of played in bowl anyway. He can go to Florida st with his brother. He is a great kid and not a quitter. These are the time we live in. He knows he will get passed up for playing time as it's that simple

Him and his bro are a package deal and committed to s staff that won a national championship that isn’t there anymore so decided to go elsewhere

LSU will be getting it’s limit in transfers in. One will likely be a QB

It’s obvious him and his brother have made other arrangements long before yesterday. It would’ve taken Kelly begging him to stay and telling him he will be the guy for the next few years. That didn’t happen. The end

I think most will agree that Johnson has not played well enough to be told the job is his to lose going into Spring.

But, if you take it from his perspective, he’s started 14(?) games and he’s now (potentially) being told that he will be in competition with one guy who has no experience and another who has limited experience.

Bingo

Papa Johnson is fairly controlling figure and I’d bet that he pressed Kelly for a commitment to keep Max as the starter and Kelly would not make that commitment. So he gone

Anyone think that Max was here just because he loved LSU is naive. He got promised something to come here. That promise got fired
